[ENG/ESP] A day off with great intentions.

I hope mine will be a little more relaxed than last week. The truth is that last week was quite hectic, full of commitments and tasks that didn't leave me much time to rest or disconnect. So when Friday came and I found out that I wouldn't have to do my usual rounds, I felt a great sense of relief. The Sunsol chain gave me the day off, and honestly, I needed it. I had several things pending that I couldn't resolve on my own, as they required knowledge that I don't have, but fortunately, my husband does.
One of those tasks was to buy some curtain rods with their respective hooks to put up at my dad's house. A few days ago, he asked me to help him with that. In the past, he would have done it himself without thinking twice. He has always been a very independent, active, and capable person. But now that he is 83, there are things that are uncomfortable or tedious for him, especially those that involve looking for specific details or making long trips to stores. And, of course, who better to ask for help than us? He knows that we will do it with the love that he would like to do it with.
So we decided to spend part of our day looking for everything we needed to install the curtains. The weather was wonderful. These days have been especially beautiful, with clear skies, making both natural and urban landscapes look more vivid than ever. It seems that the recent rains cleaned everything, and now nature is at its best, with vibrant colors and renewed energy.

Yo espero que el mío sea un poco más relajado que el anterior. La verdad es que la semana pasada fue bastante movida, llena de compromisos y tareas que no me dejaron mucho espacio para descansar o desconectarme. Por eso, cuando llegó el viernes y me enteré de que no tendría que hacer mi recorrido habitual, sentí un gran alivio. La cadena Sunsol me dio el día libre, y sinceramente, lo necesitaba. Tenía varias cosas pendientes que no había podido resolver sola, ya que requerían conocimientos que yo no manejo, pero que, afortunadamente, mi esposo sí domina.
Una de esas tareas era comprar unos tubos de cortina con sus respectivos enganches para colocarlos en casa de mi papá. Hace unos días, él me pidió que lo ayudara con eso. En otros tiempos, él mismo lo habría hecho sin pensarlo dos veces. Siempre ha sido una persona muy independiente, activa y capaz. Pero ya con sus 83 años, hay cosas que le resultan incómodas o tediosas, especialmente aquellas que implican buscar detalles específicos o hacer recorridos largos por tiendas. Y, claro, ¿a quién mejor que a nosotros para pedir ayuda? Que sabe que lo haremos con el amor que él quisiera hacerlo.
Así que decidimos dedicar parte de nuestro día a buscar todo lo necesario para instalar las cortinas. El clima nos acompañó de maravilla. Estos días han estado especialmente bonitos, con el cielo despejado, lo que tanto los paisajes naturales como los urbanos se vean más vivos que nunca. Parece que las lluvias recientes limpiaron todo, y ahora la naturaleza se muestra en su máximo esplendor, con colores vibrantes y una energía renovada.
Our first stop was at Catalano, the largest hardware store on the island. It is well known that if you cannot find something there, you will probably have a hard time finding it anywhere else. Luckily, they had curtain rods in all the sizes my dad had specified. It was a huge relief to be able to take care of that part so quickly. However, we were still missing some specific rings to complete the set. One of the employees suggested we go to the Ecocenter shopping mall, where, he told us, they had them in stock.
Nuestra primera parada fue en “Catalano”, la ferretería más grande de la isla. Es bien sabido que si no encuentras algo allí, probablemente te costará mucho conseguirlo en otro lugar. Por suerte, tenían los tubos de cortina en todas las medidas que mi papá nos había indicado. Fue un alivio enorme poder resolver esa parte tan rápido. Sin embargo, nos faltaban unas argollas específicas para completar el conjunto. Uno de los empleados nos sugirió que fuéramos al centro comercial “Ecocenter”, donde, según nos dijo, las tenían en existencia.
Without wasting any time, we headed there. The store is called “Casa Cordial” and is located on the ground floor, right next to the main entrance of the shopping center. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with great kindness. Fortunately, they still had the rings we needed. We made our purchase and, since we were there, we took the opportunity to take a short stroll around the shopping center. It is a quiet place with a pleasant atmosphere, ideal for a leisurely walk.
Sin perder tiempo, nos dirigimos hacia allá. La tienda se llama “Casa Cordial” y está ubicada en la planta baja, justo al lado de la puerta principal del centro comercial. Desde que entramos, nos atendieron con mucha amabilidad. Afortunadamente, aún tenían las argollas que necesitábamos. Hicimos la compra y, ya que estábamos allí, aprovechamos para dar un pequeño paseo por el centro comercial. Es un lugar tranquilo, con un ambiente agradable, ideal para caminar un rato sin prisas.
When we left, the weather continued to smile on us. The sky remained clear and the fresh air accompanied us as we returned home. Along the way, we stopped several times to admire the scenery. Sometimes, in the midst of our daily hustle and bustle, we forget to appreciate such beautiful places. That afternoon, we certainly did.
Al salir, el clima seguía regalándonos una sonrisa. El cielo seguía despejado y el aire fresco nos acompañaba mientras regresamos a casa. Durante el camino, nos detuvimos varias veces a admirar el paisaje. A veces, en medio del ajetreo diario, olvidamos apreciar los lugares tan hermosos. Esa tarde, sin duda, lo hicimos.
So this weekend, if work allows, we'll be putting up curtains for my dad. I'm sure that will make him very happy. Seeing his house a little tidier and knowing that he can count on us for those little things gives him peace of mind, and us too.

The truth is that here in Margarita it is very quiet and the weather is an eternal summer.

Your dad is 83? That's cool. I like as you're giving him your best now that he requires for it. Keep it up. Also, I must appreciate your husband as well. He must be reasonable son-in-law to your dad. Remember, if you have children, they are also observing your actions towards your aged parents.
We try to give him a good quality of life as much as possible and these are things that make him happy and that makes us all happy.
Our son also helps to fix grandpa's things, the example he sees from his father and from me helps him in his formation as a young man.
