It was a nice Sunday, as the morning started bright, sunny, and beautiful, unlike yesterday, when the day began with rain and grey skies that made everything feel dull.

Normally, Sunday is my favorite day of the week, so I always feel delighted when it comes around. It’s a day I use to unwind, reflect, reconnect with God, and also socialize.

I woke up a bit late and was feeling a little confused about whether to go to church or not. But I quickly remembered that today is the first Sunday of the month, and that I was supposed to be in church. Also, there was the Nigerian Red Cross Thanksgiving service to mark the commencement of the World Red Cross Week. That made it even more important for me to attend.

So, I quickly made up my mind, jumped out of bed, tidied up the room, and went straight to the bathroom to shower. I decided to go in full corporate wear today, white shirt, black trousers, tie, and polished shoes. I wanted to look my best, not just for church, but also for the Red Cross celebration.

After dressing up, I headed to the first service at my church. On arrival, I joined in the prayers, worship, and praise session. The atmosphere was lively and spiritually uplifting. After the main service, I stepped out to join the Red Cross team for the Thanksgiving. It was a great time in the presence of God as we danced joyfully and sang songs of praise.

After the service, we took group photos in our Red Cross attire, shared laughter, and bonded with one another. I later returned home, had a good meal, and took a short nap to regain energy.

And don’t forget, it’s Sunday, my favorite day, and as the culture demands, I had to go out later in the evening for my usual sit-out with friends. The evening was relaxing and filled with gist, soft music, and light refreshments.

As night approached, I packed up and went back home, knowing that I had to prepare for the new work week ahead.
