Hello, September! I Won a Bike
Hello, September!
If you have a moment, let me tell you about something happening in my country
There’s currently on-goin unrest in the country urging the president to revoke lavish perks for the lawmakers, minimum wage increase as well as accountability for the police violence. At the moment, the unrest is too challenging to map as it has spread to another topic without a single main focus. It’s as if there was a tiny flame that erupted into an untamed fire. So, I won’t bore you with unnecessary details but one thing we’re afraid of is military escalation that just waits for its time to appear when there’s a chance.
There’s also a property tax hike up to 1000% where I live. This is a ludicrous amount that not everyone of us is able to afford.
As someone who considers herself apathetic, one way or another if the conflict escalates this will affect many of us. I grew up being told that in 1998, life has been very tough for the majority of the people and this time, it could be worse.
Will there be a change in my country? Maybe. Although I am very skeptical about it all, I simply wish for the best.
Now, on to another topic.
How did August fly?
It’s as if just yesterday, it was the first of August. There were quite a bit of things happening in my life. While nothing major, I am finally settling with the life that I am building in my new place.
In this new place, I finally found that rhythm of life. I am taking more chances to be involved in community events, helping kids in my community and to contribute as well. Maybe I’ll have more stories about that later because I found that I am myself again.
But at the same time, just a few days ago, my knee got dislocated. Thankfully, I got better and was even able to attend the community fun walk. I didn’t really walk far but either way, my mom and I won the main prize, a hybrid bike.We both were so thankful about it and happy too 😄but for now, I can’t cycle yet, we’ll have to wait until my knee fully recovers.
This month, we also held the last memorial for our father. It marked almost 100 days that he was gone from us. The thing is, that also puts less strain on me and my mother. We were able to look back at all of our life’s difficulties to finally reach this moment in life, where both of us were liberated from a toxic relationship. I can only reflect that sometimes, escaping a toxic relationship isn't as easy as it sounds. Even for me who wasn’t directly involved, got caught up in that murky water and cost me my own sanity.
You know, I am not even sure where to begin this September or where to focus on it. But I certainly want to focus on more consistency and less about consuming the news. I found myself getting sucked into this whole political debacle that the last two days, which should be my down time, was spent on gathering as much information as I could on the latest political turmoil. While I do not have excessive fear, it was just an unproductive time spent on all these.
Thankfully, at least yesterday I got to explore a bit of Chinatown. The Angel's Trumpet bloomed around the area and it was so beautiful to see. So, I have a plan on exploring the town to get some more pictures on its variant. It’s been a while since I actually picked up my camera and explored the area. Now, I have some more excuse to do it.
So, how was your August?
Congratulations dear
Wow, that’s a lot happening at once.
I can only imagine how draining it must be with all the unrest and the tax hike. It really does feel like things spiral from a small spark into a fire sometimes. But, honestly, I admire how you’re still finding space for community, healing and even little thrills like winning that bike with your mom. That’s absolutely wholesome.
I’m glad your knee is getting better too. As for my August, honestly, I feel like I just blinked and it slipped right out of my hands. Can’t believe we’re already in September. I hope I accomplish a lot this time.
I mean for a lot of us, life goes on. You can't always fight the system because they typically have grown very powerful.
I hope you can accomplish a lot this month. Is there a particular thing that you want to achieve this month?

Politics always create chaos in life. It is. Better to avoid the news and move ahead in life that brings happiness...cheers to rhe win....I am now looking own one to stay healthy.
It's good to be informed but not too excessively. I think staying away from that helps as well. When you have a bike, it's time to start posting over cycling community hehe.

My August wasn't so eventful but I was quite unwell in the earlier part of the month and had to visit the hospital and take 3 days off work to recover. I guess that's probably the "biggest" thing for me.
I hope you're better now 😊 and get some rest you needed hehe. It seems like for many of us, August flies just like that.
Yey!! Congratulations on your new bike 🎉
But, ney... On politics.. even in my country,, people are now exposing corrupt officials and their anomalies in the government.. well, good luck with that..
I wish you'll be better soon so you can enjoy cycling..
Cheers to September 🍻
It is very difficult to ignore the political situation where you live. It is normal to get caught up in wanting to know more and watching the news. I hope it does not escalate further and that everything is resolved harmoniously.
It is great to win a prize, even if it is small, but you won a good prize. Wow, I have wanted a bicycle for years. Enjoy it when you can, while you rest your knee.
My August was tough with challenging situations. I'll share how it went later. Best regards. @macchiata
