I had long-term plans to bring my parents on a trip as a gift for all the work they put into raising us. I was saving HBD in addition to my personal funds for that reason. I certainly never imagined that I would need to use my savings for another reason, my father's passing. The only way to appreciate his efforts is to assist my mother at any cost as I am unable to travel with him somewhere anymore. I suppose he also wanted me to do it.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to take a family vacation because I spend all of my free time assisting my mother with the transfer of my father's pension to her and other claims.

We just left for another journey on Friday, particularly to Manila, to complete the last transaction. And guess what? My mother took her first flight ever! It finally happened after 55 years. Even though she had been to Manila before, this was her first time riding on a plane.

She initially gave off a frightened expression due to the low-pressure area. That day, the weather wasn't great. Thunder and lightning were present during the rain. We hoped the rain would stop before our flight because it was scheduled for the evening. Although the heavy downpour receded, it was followed by light showers. With this, I wasn't able to take her first photo outside the plane.

We were so excited that we departed home too early. That's also because I don't want us to be late for our flight since our town is far from the airport. At around four in the afternoon, we were already at the airport. We stayed at the Malasakit waiting area until six in the afternoon before we proceeded to the check-in area. It rained the whole afternoon which worried me more. Some parts of the airport even flooded. Wrong timing weather it was.

It wasn't just my mom's first flight. With us was my brother's family who's going back to Manila. So it was also my little nephew's first flight. He looked too excited, and seeing a spacious place he thought it was a playground. He kept walking from one place to another, pushing my small luggage.

However, seeing my mom smiling somehow makes me feel happy and sad. Happy by the fact that she had a new experience in life. Sad because she reminded me of my father. It would have been great if he was still alive, and we all three traveling together to one of the tourist destinations in our country, or to Hong Kong. It was my plan, but it won't happen anymore.

For now, I'll enjoy the remaining days with her. It's our third day in Manila, and hopefully, we could visit a tourist attraction at the end of the week before we go back to our province.

The first time riding on a plane feeling a little bit frightened is natural. Good to hear that you were able to do this for her.

You are a wonderful daughter! You gave your mom such a wonderful experience. My parents also died and my dreams did not come true with them, but I hope that they see my journey from heaven and are happy for me. They have never flown in their lives. And I also made my first flight at the age of 50 😊

Anyway, it's never too late to make that dream come true for your parents, you still have your Mama after all. Kahit wala na Papa mo, for sure he will be happy pag nangyari yun. He may no longer with you physically, sigurado he's watching over you.

After the death of my father, I try to cheer my mom up in every way and I came up with the idea several times of doing something together for the first time so that tomorrow she would have some new experiences and new memories along with all the old ones that hurt. Your mom will also remember this experience and it will bring her a little happiness in this sad time.

Your mom and my mother are of the same age sis. Just like her, it has been a while too when she was not able to ride in an air bus. The same scenario also that she had been to Manila before but not with an airplane, just a ship because it is cheaper. And when she went to Palawan with my father and late sister, she felt the same like what your mom’s feelings because there was a low pressure at that time. Enjoy beautiful bondings with your family. Full of stress din si Mother sis eh. Waal saying work alaga sya samin lahat tapos you know na the story of my father. And then now, my mother is busy taking care sa papa ko, so sad inaatake tapos now stroke sakit nya at diabetes. Reason din why withdrawing ako sa Hive earnings ko. I so feel you and the challenges you have been through. Pero laban lang sis. I know you are resilient!
