A Feast of Simple Joys: My Birthday Story

A day to remember, the day I was born...

Looking back, I feel proud and grateful to still be here, knowing all the storms I have weathered. Let me share with you how I spent my special day.

I chose to celebrate quietly, just with my immediate family, not the typical loud celebration we often see in our province.
Most people would cook plenty of food, invite a crowd, and even roast a lechon. But that's not my style. I prefer something private, quiet, and simple just us.

I didn't really have a plan for my birthday.
At first, I thought of just staying home and following the usual routine. But today, boredom crept in, and a little craving sparked inside me. So, I told my husband we should go out, after all, it was my day. I cleaned the house first, did a bit of laundry, got myself and my kid ready, and then waited for my husband to finish. He took a while, and I was already hungry, so I went ahead first with our kid, and think of a place where we could enjoy a meal. We live just near the city, so it won't take take long for my husband to follow us.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure where to go. But every time we think of going out for a meal, the first place that always comes to mind is the famous food chain in our country "Jollibee". Most parents bring their kids there because of its cheerful vibe. You can't blame me as an adult to celebrate my birthday there as their food is also my favorite, even from afar I can already smell their delicious food, It's inviting😍. And my child loves Jollibee too. So, I chose Jollibee. We arrived and ordered for me and my kid usual favorites, enjoying every bite. Not long after, my husband joined us, but the food wasn't enough, and my husband wasn't really fond of Jollibee's food.

So we decided to continue eating at the food court in a mall. The rain was falling and the cold bit at us as we rode our motorcycle. When we got there, I was relieved cause my kid could play in a playground near the food court while we continued our little feast. We ordered right away, my husband ordered plenty, while I treated myself to something sweet. After eating, we went to the arcade, sang our hearts out at the karaoke, and let our son play while we joined him now and then.

Later, we wandered into the department store for a little window shopping. I bought myself a pair of earrings. I also stopped by at Watsons, the go-to store for personal care and bought some makeup for myself, since it had been a while. My son spotted donuts and pleaded for some, and my husband craved a shawarma, oh we were already over budget by then!😂

Tired but happy, I eagerly opened my little purchase and tried them on, also tried putting on make-up😍 It was a long and tiring day, but my heart was full, a day well spent, unplanned, yet one of the best memories with my family. And I hope to get to spend my next birthday just as beautifully.
