BEYOND THE TABLE DISPLAY: A CELEBRATION OF TEAMWORK AND WELLNESS
hEllo @dailyblogs community,
After a hectic schedule outside the school yesterday, I returned to my station with a burst of energy and enthusiasm, ready to face another meaningful task. It was our school-based celebration of Nutrition Month, and I was determined to make it memorable for my students. With limited time, I quickly reached out to five parents the only ones I had contact with and thanked God they responded positively. They even took the initiative to inform their fellow parents. I was overjoyed when I saw the children arriving, each carrying baskets filled with colorful vegetables and fresh fruits for our table display contest.
As the table started to fill up, I took charge of arranging everything beautifully. I carefully grouped the items into the three food categories: Go foods (energy-giving), Grow foods (body-building), and Glow foods (body-protecting). It felt rewarding to see how vibrant and healthy our display turned out. When the judges came around, I stood by with quiet pride, knowing the effort that went into this collaborative work.
After the judging, I called my students to gather around for a group photo. The joy on their faces was priceless. They were thrilled not just to see their efforts recognized but also because they were excited to eat the fruits they had brought. The eagerness to share with one another reminded me of how this simple activity taught them about generosity and healthy eating in such a fun way.
In the afternoon, the celebration continued with a poster-making contest for Grades 1-3 and a slogan-making contest for Grades 4-6. We selected two participants per section to showcase their creativity and knowledge about proper nutrition. At 3:00 PM, we formally opened the Nutrition Month celebration and acknowledged all the winners.
The highlight of the day came when we learned that our group had won 2nd place in the table display contest for Grades 4-6. My students and I were overjoyed to receive the award, it felt like the sweet fruit of all our teamwork and dedication. Together with the parents’ unwavering support, the experience became a perfect example of how a united effort can achieve wonderful results.
