Life Lesson Or Waste Of Time
It's been 65 days or so, since I started my weight loss journey or lifestyle change and although it's far from over, I can see the changes on so many levels. I'm not the type to over analyze everything and torture others with my righteousness, as I see so many around here, trying to prove they know all and are superior too, so today I'm going to just share some details about my experience so far, for myself mostly.

Timing
Yes, I'm going to start with timing as it turns out it's crucial and can influence your the results quite a lot. We're 12 days part New Year's Eve, and today I'm marking 65 days. The start of this journey was the 9th of November, a Sunday to be precise. It wasn't a Monday, the 1st of the month, it was Sunday, the day when I had enough of postponing, procrastinating and starting over endlessly, just to break the streak after a week or two, because ... because there's always a because, a reason to break the diet.
Someone told me it's a very bad period to start before Christmas, but after the holidays, I can tell you, it was the best decision. We had two festive days in which people have no limits regarding food and drinks, a huge challenge for anyone, especially if you are invited to lunch or dinner, but these so called challenges, obstacles or simply temptations will always be present, so you might as well learn to deal with them the right way and I did.
The solution for me was to determine what I am allowing myself and where I stop. A little bonus is ok, but that's it. You need to know what's more important for you, your goal or kicking everything out of the window for a few days and cancelling what you've achieved so far, and then the decision is simple.
The Journey
There are so many clichés out there about this, so you can pick one, whichever you like, but repeating clichés in an attempt to look good is not the goal here. I'd rather tell you how my journey has been so far.
Counting calories is not a fun thing to do, but I take it seriously as for me, it's the only way, but counting calories is not just that, it's more like a learning curve.
After some time you already have an idea what can you eat, how much and can make smart choices. If you want, of course. My diet doesn't exclude sweets, I can eat a very small portion of cake from time to time, but I still have to fit in my daily calorie intake and here comes the question: do I prefer a small slice of cake, which obviously is nice, but knows my sugar level up and my calories as well, or choose some veggies, along with some good quality meat, which is kind of necessary? After two months I definitely choose the latter and know why as well.
The other day I was thinking what I would do if I reach my goal. We all know so many are back to their old lifestyle, celebrating their success and slowly (but surely) putting it all back up. That's definitely not what I want, so I need a plan after I reach my goal and I think I have one.
The Plan
Yes, plan after plan, even if it looks or sounds strange, that's how life is and if you don't have one, you can face the consequences of some bad choices.
After I reach my gold, I'm planning to still count calories and monitor my weight, to see how my body is going to react to a slightly higher calorie intake and how much I need to keep that certain level. But the focus will be on healthier food.
Some say healthy food is expensive, but I can assure you, you pay way more for unhealthy junk food. Having an idea about how much calories, carbs, fat and protein a dish has can help you make a good selection to last for a week or two and rotate them, to avoid getting bored of eating the same dishes. It means work, but you're doing it for yourself, so worth investing in it.
Conclusion
It is my firm conviction that you can learn a lot during such a journey, you can change your life as well, if you take it seriously and don't look at it as a simple weight loss journey. It's a way of life, a new way of life with a lot of benefits. It's a mind game, as I mentioned in one of my posts and the sooner you realize that, the better for you. Otherwise it's a few months of giving up on eating certain dishes, then going back to the same lifestyle and getting back to square one. Simple as that.

Sixty five days is quite a long time, they say that habits form in an average of 66 days. You are there, do you feel like you have formed a new habit of healthy eating?
For me I already eat healthy except for sugar. I am actually trying to loose weight myself right now. I started at 221 pounds which is just over 100 KG and after 13 days my wight is down to 212 pounds which is 96 KG. The only two things I did is eat a little less and halved my sugar intake, from an equivalent of 15 candies per day to about seven. The drop was really quick, I don't expect it to last, I heard it is healthy to loose a pound per month. My goal is 200 lbs and 210 by April.
I didn't know about this saying, but it is true that after some time it becomes a habit, I can confirm that.
Sugar is a huge factor and so many can't even see it, or don't want to admit it. It was two years ago, when I started a no sugar challenge. Initially I said 30 days, then went on for 2 months. It can definitely be done, but once you are done with it, you can easily go back to your old habits, like eating something sweet after lunch, or dinner.
15 candies is crazy, no offense. Even half is crazy to me 😮 and it indicates addiction. If you can beat it, you're a winner. I'm eating chocolate with 80% cocoa, 1 small piece (5g), which is not sweet at all and I can guarantee you, after you eat a little piece, you don't want more.
Congrats on your journey.
It is not that crazy, my normal routine a month ago for years have been 5-6 cups of tea per day and I would have at least 3 candies with each cup, so conservatively 5*3=15...
I managed to cut it down to 2-4 cups with two candies each time so that is basically half... But, yes it is a sugar addiction and I am trying to beat it in stages, going no sugar all together is rough especially when we have at least 20 different candy/desert varieties at home at any point of time.
Well done! I look forward to hearing how you are doing in another 65 days! Sweets are definitely my downfall, but I have been slowly learning to be better about them. I still slip every now and then.
Thanks! Slipping occasionally is ok, as long as you know the limits and don't make it a habit.
For sure! I'm also the type of person that turns to sweets when I am stressed, so locking that down is always a challenge, but something I am mindful of.
Good luck, you're going to make it :)
It's indeed a hard time during Christmas, mainly because you get invited by family, and want it or not there's a lot of stuff to eat, Christmas cakes and so on... I myself just break the rules a few days during holidays
When goal is reached the only possible continue is to keep up otherwise you go back at the beginning
Healthy food is sure more expensive, just check the nuts cream, Nutella which is shit costs a few, 100% nuts cream with only nuts costs duble
Family and friends are an issue as not many are supportive, which is fine, but when they start to attack you, or make fun of you, to make themselves look better, it becomes a serious issue. I'm past that, I don't expect anyone to support me, but when they attack me, I'm not keeping quiet.
We agree on that.
Well, I wouldn't call nut cream healthy. I prefer to eat raw nuts, or non processed, whatever you like to call it, but only a few pieces as it knocks your calories off big time, but these are still needed in a balanced diet.
Family should ALWAYS be supportive, i mean that's not even a big deal, you ain't doing surgery to become a man... Friends, depends, if they are real or just fake
Oh I do eat raw nuts, various tipes as it's better to change... Raw organic cream from time to time for breakfast on low carb bread that is
Yes, this should be the right thing to do, but people are mean and those overweight are the meanest, out of envy.
I'm lucky as no one of my immediate family is mean, but have seen others do this.
All strength to your efforts :)
Thank you! :)
It surely is. A win-win situation as apart from making your will and mind strong, you also lose weight. Csak így tovább, ügyes vagy!
Köszönöm szépen, nagyon igyekszem 😆 Nézd meg mennyire ...

Na ez én vagyok 😂
Te megteheted nyugodtan 😂
Every journey, every road has its learning and it is always for oneself, if one knows how to see it. It takes effort and knowledge, like the calorie issue, but it is possible, in fact you are achieving it, the achievement is one day at a time and that becomes the best habit you can acquire. Best of all is that plan, the one you have for after the goal, that's what makes the difference!
Best of all is the goal I'd say and the discipline you develop, that can help you later in life as well.
Exactly, without that constancy and discipline there is nothing else.
Good luck with yur weight loss goals!
Thank you.
I have recently started this process too, and I can fully agree with what you said here! Either way, I am shocked you began this before the Christmas holidays. That's brave!!
Everyone is shocked to be honest and that showes the different way of thinking. I mean the old one, that wants to still eat and lead the old lifestyle and the new one that wants the change. This is how I see it and I'm not saying this to hurt anyone. Once you see you can survive Christmas even while on a diet, it's easier for you 😉
I'm glad you started the process too abd happy for you! 🤗
Thank you! Let's hope it lasts as long as it needs, because as a person who's used to cooking lots of sweets for her partner, it's really hard to resist! 🤣
That is a challenge, but if you learn to resist, you're a winner :)
takes a lot of will power to fight the body, the voices in the head shouting "feed me feed me" I have no will powere so good luck in your fight x
Thank you! It indeed take a lot of self control, but it is definitely doable :)
Onwards and upwards !!
