A Glimpse Of What HIVE Could Become

Thanks to HivePosh and those Hive members listed above one of my articles was shared on Reddit a day ago and it got some traction with regard to comments. On Hive we don't really have a huge active user base compared to Reddit and this kind of showcases what Hive could become if the user base was much larger. A total of 64 comments and replies to those comments is less than 24 hours compared to the one comment received on Hive.

What I enjoyed about the Reddit comments is not everyone agreed with the article and had different opinions which is what an article should do as the article should create discussion. There is no right or wrong and discussing various view points seeing things from a different train of thought is refreshing and normal.

What I liked is one Reddit user mentioned that he uses an energy app which states the exact percentage of the Chinese power grid and coal does go as high as 70% and some days only 40% so yes it does fluctuate. The renewables are growing in the energy they supply and of course this will vary as a percentage daily depending on the weather. Strong winds and sunny days will see more renewables generated compared to overcast windless days.

I looked into Reddit this morning and AI Overview suggests there are 500 -510 monthly users and back in the first quarter of 2025 reached between 100 and 110 million users per day. These are very large numbers and one can only imagine if Hive had only 1% of that how the blockchain would be so different. reddit is growing the numbers and a recent report showed a 19.34% growth from Q3 2024 to Q3 2025 which is massive numbers because the base is already so big. Nearly 20% growth over a 12 month period is the equivalent of adding 80 -100 million new members.

I used one of @dalz's charts which helps highlight how small Hive really is with around 3-3.5K accounts posting daily and a fluctuating number of active accounts ranging around the 10K region. Reddit having 100 million daily active accounts means they are 10 000 x bigger than Hive which is a very big difference. Now if HivePosh could attract those users on Reddit to use Hive and reddit 1% which is a very small percentage would still see Hive's activity grow by over 1 million users.

When you consider the tokenomics Hive has nearly 509 million Hive in circulation and one could only imagine if we had 1 million active users or more what this would do for the scarcity of the token. Hive has legs and yes it is undervalued and the blockchain needs more users to reach it's potential which is far more than what we have today. Any form of adoption takes time to gain traction and I do believe Hive has a far better future ahead.

I think that is the important part being "active" and not just signing up and creating an account. Activity is what attracts more people and why every account on Hive besides the 3 or 4 K daily posters and 10K daily curators needs to stay consistent with what they are already doing.

It is hard to think that those 100 million daily users on Reddit could be earning daily on Hive even just by commenting on posts which they do because they obviously enjoy the concept of engaging with others for free. I never really understood the HivePosh concept up until today as I have never been on Reddit before and had no idea how big that site was.
