AGI is here ?

so now AGI is supposedly months away eh... i keep seeing this pop up and while i think 'months' is crazy optimistic, it ain't that far off either. things are moving at a speed that feels... unnatural. like everyone is sprinting towards some finish line but no one even knows what the prize is, or if it's a prize at all.
call me a cynic but this all feels like another massive hype cycle designed to distract and create a new bubble for the VCs and big tech players to cash in on. we just went through crypto, then NFTs, now it's the AI grift. they just need to keep the music playing. the prediction of 'months' just sounds like a marketing timeline. it creates urgency, makes people feel like they're being left behind if they don't get on board... same old game.
i'm not saying the tech isn't real. it clearly is and it's getting scary powerful. but the leap to AGI... that's a whole other level of crazy. and what does that even look like for the rest of us? more job displacement, more reliance on systems we can't control or even understand. more power consolidating into the hands of a few companies that already run everything. it's just gonna get weirder. the world is already on a knifes edge and we're about to throw this into the mix.
i dunno dawg. it just makes me want to double down on things that are real. tangible. things you can hold in your hand. this whole digital reality they're building feels so fragile... one solar flare away from being gone. ya boy is just gonna keep stacking physical assets and letting the silicon valley sleaze balls play their weird little games. you can have your AGI... i'll take my silver. at least i know what it is.
