180-degree turn the moment I realised

There just happens to be some people on earth who attract others to themselves like a magnet, either with their personality or attitude. One look at them and you feel mesmerized in one way or the other. They appear to do some certain things way different from every other person such that one can't help but be wowed, wishing to be a bit like them.

But what happens when such person in that category of people reveals their true self?

There's this classmate of mine whom I admired due to how she always made herself available for anything that involved worship. She wouldn't mind skipping classes just to organise either class or general fellowships.

Despite the fact that she wasn't the prefect in charge of that, she never ceased to make sure everything necessary was set up before 2pm every Friday. Being a new student in the school then, I observed her and couldn't help but admire her love for God. Seeing her do all she did made me to join the ESCOs with the hope of assisting her whenever she went about her duties.

However, one fateful day, a senior girl barged into our class angrily demanding for her but she wasn't in class. She then commanded everyone of us to tell the girl to meet her at the refectory once she returns. As she turned to leave, the girl entered the class and they bumped into each other. The senior gave her a resounding slap which left us in shock. Little did we know that the main drama was yet to unfold.

The senior girl started calling her every name she could think of both in English and Yoruba language, asking her why she had the audacity to snatch her boyfriend from her. And my classmate in reply said she obviously has a lot of things which the senior lacks for that to have happened. She went on and on about her abilities and capabilities in that area.

Having a boyfriend wasn't my problem. Afterall, it's even like a trend until I heard the words that flew out of her mouth when the senior questioned her religious beliefs and how she never ceased to carry God on her head.

She responded saying she was only building a good reputation for herself. Since the school happens to be the only place she freely goes to asides from church and being at home (as her parents think), they would make sure to question the teachers about her conduct.
And I was like,

Woah there! Wait a minute

Knowing that her parents would never accept the idea of her mingling closely with guys, she resorted to playing the godly child so that her parents won't suspect a thing. So all she had been doing were nothing but an act. She wasn't just doing something that would annoy her parents but was also using God to conceal her activities.

And that was the day I did a 180-degree turn. I mean, if you have a filthy motive for worshipping God, what then is my business with you?
My perspective about her changed completely and whenever I think back to that day, her boldness and lack of remorse still baffles me.
