My Neighbor: A Stranger Turned Brother

I went through most of the prompts and I am laughing hard to some while some I was just blushing, I know some neighbors could be wild while some could be the most closest people you ever met. Okay for the purpose of this prompt, permit me to also share a little about the neighbor I wished never left our compound.

Personally I am not an outside person that's why I am an introvert so I never really had friends but things changed when Morris packed into our compound, a calm, friendly and collected person, initially to be honest I didn't like him because he wasn't that friendly, I would greet him and he will just answer me like we were quarreling, I remember days I tried to talk to him but he was always bossy.

We became friends when he asked me to make list for him to go get things to prepare okra soup, I was kind of shock as to why he would ask me that and I did that for him, I wanted to ask him his girlfriend's whereabout but I didn't want to upset him so I just shut and did what he asked me to.

After that, he gave me the soup, I didn't want to eat it because I was kind of skeptical as to why he would be nice all of a sudden but then what could possibly be the worst thing to happen, I ate the soup and the next day he went to work. When he came back he asked we should just stroll as he was bored at home, we strolled that night and personally I was so relieved because I have always been home bored and the only thing then that do take me out is my work.

Time went by and we became best of friends, infact he was more like a brother to me, he forced me to start going to church after I had stayed away for quite a long period of time. It got to the point that people started thinking we were dating and with all honesty nothing of such happened and besides he had a girlfriend then and I was in a relationship, just that he was more of my own brother.

There was a time i broke down seriously because of family issues, it got so tensed that I was loosing my mind, he would sometimes take a break from work and stay back to see that I was okay and wouldn't lack anything. The guy was really an emotional person that a little stomach upset he will cry, I remember when his girlfriend told him that she never needed him again, the guy spent the entire day crying only to know it was a prank, I laughed really hard that day.

When he lost his job, he was almost depressed, I was even the one that consoles him and talked to my manager so he could be employed as fast as possible as he was already loosing his mind staying at home, so we would go to work together.

Another thing I like about him is that he can gist very well, I still remember days we almost got into troubles because of his gist and gossiping, he can laugh loud to be serious and when he does me I will run away from him so that someone will not come and beat me. Those days were the best years yet if my life.

Morris left when his mom died and his dad was left alone and since he was the only child to his parents he had to pack back to his village so he could take care of his blind father, though we still keep in touch with each other but not as much as we used to talk and life is really dealing with him and I will keep supporting him till he gets back on his feet.

Morris, whereever you are, I am praying your dad regains his sight and you get back to your feet. I really care about you and I am rooting for you my friend.
