The Unexpected Kindness

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome πŸ€—

To be shown any act of kindness is a feeling that I am loved and appreciated by everyone, including babies. The act of kindness is one of those experiences we feel deep within our heart, the type that touches the core of who we are. The act of kindness makes you feel a certain kind of warmth that fills the heart; the thought of someone going out of their way to think of you, care for you, or even help you in a moment of need is a beautiful kind of feeling.

However, when we experience such kindness from a total stranger, it is a different feeling altogether when you are at the receiving end of kindness from people you do not know, most especially when the kindness is unwarranted. it kind of evokes a feeling that’s often mixed with surprise, gratitude, and even awe because these strangers really owe you nothing; they don't know you from anywhere yet, and they choose to show you such kindness.

I have been a beneficiary on several occasions of numerous kindnesses, both from people I know and, more surprisingly, from people I do not know. It is okay, normal, and expected when people you know extend kind gestures to you. In fact, depending on the level of closeness that exists between the both of you, it would not be out of place if you anticipated some expressions of benevolence from the other person.

A recent scenario that comes to mind is something that happened recently in the church I attend. It was the last Sunday of the month, and every last Sunday in my church is dedicated to thanking and praising God for the month just concluded. It is a Sunday characterized by singing and dancing. It is a Sunday; people throw caution to the wind as they go all out in giving God their best dance, leaving no stone unturned, all in thanks to God for favors and mercy enjoyed during the month.

It was Thanksgiving time this particular Thanksgiving Sunday, and the ushers had started directing people to the line on the aisle. It got to be my turn, and the usher asked me to join the line, and I told her that I didn't have a Thanksgiving offering, so I wouldn't, and there was this guy directly in front of me who just turned and gave me the envelope in his hand and said that I should join the line. I tried thanking him several times but declined, but he kept insisting, so I collected it. I checked inside the envelope because it was heavy; it was filled with mints, but I didn't count them. While I was on the line dancing and thinking of what had happened, I saw him behind asking the usher for another envelope for himself.

Throughout the remaining part of the service I was left in awe. kindness doesn’t have to be grand or elaborate for it to matter. Even the simplest gesture can causy a rippled effect.

Kindness can come in different kinds just as u said and it's also important that as we receive kindness from others, we should reciprocate it to others. Thank you for sharing @ozd

Totally agree with you on this.
That was nice of the man. If not for anything, it at least showed you that true kindness still exists...and it can be in a heavy envelope 😁.

So very generous of the guy. Truly it is the small acts of kindness that touches deep into the heart.

God bless him richly

Oh wow! That was a great one there and I understand that there's no way you can ever forget him for what he did.
That's why some people prefer not going to church when there's no offering to pay if it's to dance out in rows and columns to drop the envelope

That's right, I can never stay at home because of lack of offering
