My Friendship Hurdle Experience: The Devil Didn't Wear a Mask.
source
His name was Great. He was like a brother to me because we met even before we got admission in school together and that means our families were aware of our friendship, also, he was the only guy that time I could talk to without feeling judged.
One Friday evening on our way home together. He suggested that we chill out before heading home just to relieve the stress of the week from school activities. We stopped by a nearby bar close to school and he bought the drinks. I didn’t even ask for anything specific because he knew what I liked. After a few sips, I started feeling strange. My head felt heavy. My body was weak and I knew something was wrong.I asked him what was happening to me and he just answered "You are fine. Just relax."
I tried to stand but I couldn't because my legs were shaking. Everything around me was spinning. He helped me up and said he was taking me somewhere I could rest before we head home. The next thing I knew, I was in a room. Dimly lit. I could barely lift my head.
Then I heard a voice.A man’s voice, somewhere near the door. He was talking to Great. But the voice sounded familiar and slightly rough. I knew that voice. It belonged to a guy from school, someone who had tried to get close to me. He made advances, said things that made me uncomfortable and I said no. I told Great about him back then. I even joked about how creepy the guy was but Great just laughed along, and promised to stay around me.
But now, that same voice was in the room with Great. That was when I knew I wasn’t safe. Suddenly, the door opened wider and the other guy stepped in. He looked surprised to see my eyes half-open.
“She’s not fully out,” he said.
“I gave her enough,” Great replied.
My heart pounded. I couldn’t move, but I could think. I knew if I didn’t do something, something terrible was about to happen. I closed my eyes halfway, trying to stay calm. I let my body go limp, pretending to be completely unconscious.I heard them stepped out. As soon as I heard their voices move farther away, I did the only thing I could, I rolled off the bed and crawled.I found a small bathroom attached to the room and dragged myself inside, locking the door behind me.

I stayed there, shaking and praying. After sometime, I heard someone knocking softly. Then I heard a woman's voice asked “Is someone in there?” I opened the door a crack and saw a cleaner holding a towel. She looking shocked.I begged her with tears running down my cheeks to help me out. She took me out through the staff corridor and helped me got a taxi. That was how I got home safely.
Later that night, I saw a message from Great.“I’m sorry. I didn’t plan for it to go that far. I needed the money.”
My hands shook as I read it because there was no guilt, no real remorse. Just a weak apology after nearly destroying my life. I reported him anonymously to the school authorities. I also submitted the message he sent as evidence. I didn’t care about what could happen to him and I have no regret till today.
I realized that day that some betrayals don’t come from strangers. They come from the ones who knew your weakness and chose to use it against you. They come from the ones who you never saw coming.
