From Irritation To Insight: What A Pet Peeve Reveals About Me

In a marketplace, while I was in a hurry to get the things I needed to buy before it starts raining, I get slowed down by a slow walking lady who isn't old or look sick, it was so annoying because there was no other way to walk past her until we reached an open place. I figured it's a pet peeve.

While on a bus ride, I found this guy looking right into my phone as I was sending texts to my friends, watching statuses and he didn't just look, he tried to talk about something he saw in one of the videos I watched and I was like "What the heck?!" I mean, Bro you have your phone too!

I'm not the kind to easily show how annoyed I am about a situation or a pet peeve of mine but there are moments where I can't hold it in and I figured they are my biggest pet peeve. Slow internet is one for me, you'll find me hissing over and over and there's also talking when your mouth is full.

But the one biggest pet peeve I never liked until my thoughts changed for the better about it was, "Staring too long at people". Before now, I was totally okay with staring for a bit and taking eyes off someone like nothing happened but I was not okay with the eyes that stares too long on me.

At that time, I found those people very annoying and kind of foolish to be eye fixed on someone especially strangers. At one point, I'll give an ugly or a kind of scary face look at them to signal them that they are staring too much. But trust some to still keep the stare after your signal.

I think the main reason that became my pet peeve then was because I was the shy type and I'd prefer to go to places without being seen by anyone but imagine someone like that being looked at for more than few seconds. I could almost feel my blood running hot to see them.

Well, that changed when I try not to take notice of whoever is looking or staring too much and I replaced it with appreciating my looks and who I am. I could say the pet peeve was also as a result of the low amount of self love I give myself. A close friend actually pointed this out to me.

What if people stare more because I look attractive? Or maybe they want to get the style of my wears for a remake? Or maybe they stare longer to admire what they find admirable in my physical appearance? I know this could be quite a self deceit to an extent but trust me, it felt better.

There's really no use getting too annoyed about this particular pet peeve but it was a no joke for me back then. I still notice some long stares today but I don't get as annoyed as before, even annoyance takes a lot from my strength so I'd rather use the strength for something better lol.

You see that part where someone will keep looking into your phone, I dislike it. This is why I go for privacy screen guards, no matter how much they look, they can't see anything except if you're one sitting behind me and would I even bring my phone up and press?

I try to vent my anger while walking behind someone who tries to slow her walk down but you know, I'd be patient or still just say, "excuse me," and I go my way.

Just like the slow internet, too, I hiss a lot and then, those around me would be like, "It is not as if you will break your phone oo" 🤣🤣 na me go still calm down because I can't control the situation.

Lol I use private screen guards too, that has reduced the annoying attitude from people a lot.

That slow internet is almost like you're feeling sick 😂

Exactly and especially when the page just hangs. Sometimes I would have to off my phone entirely and put it on again. It’s annoying

It's really annoying when people peep into your phone. I've never considered it as a pet peeve because it's such a obvious thing. It's an invasion of one's privacy and just shouldn't be done. However, instead of seeing it as an irritation, you turned it into a confidence boost, which is such a positive way to handle it.

It's really annoying, I guess those who does it thinks it's okay for others to peep into their phones lol.
Yeah, thanks for stopping by.

You should have texted that “boss, I’ve gotten one of the sacrifice” and then describe the guy too. And then you state that he’s been looking on your phone for a while so he’s perfect for that sacrifice.

Be sure to have me stare back at you if I find you staring at me even by mistake. And I’d make sure to make you feel uncomfortable since you decided to be a silly person.😂

It’s okay to stare but don’t do it for long. If it exceeds 0.5 minutes then you’d automatically be classified a perv.

Wooow such an insightful post. Well I was enjoying my read down your story and when I got to that point where you talked about the staring, I just thought to myself they could be staring because you are attractive. I just finished saying that and you mentioned it in your next paragraph

What if people stare more because I look attractive? Or maybe they want to get the style of my wears for a remake?

And I was like yea, exactly what I just thought.
