What Does Being Broke Mean?

What Does Being Broke Mean?

Many times, whenever someone tells me that they're broke, I usually use myself to imagine the situation and know how to respond or be of help if the person is asking for help.

From what I have seen and also using myself as an example, being broke does not necessarily mean being completely out of money from every angle. It's basically a situation whereby withdrawable or usable money is not reachable, not withdrawable, or you simply do not want to use it.

Just last week, I was having a conversation with a friend from this Blockchain, and along the line, I mentioned that I was hungry due to being broke. She laughed and directed me to my Hive wallet.

"What do you mean you're hungry due to being broke when you have a thousand dollars worth of Hive in your wallet?"

Her joke got me muted, and I didn't know what else to say.

So that's it — being broke to me means a moment or period where the money that is usable has finished, and I don't have any means for an alternative.

Using my Hive wallet as an example, the money I have currently — if I withdraw it now, it’s going to be a big loss because Hive is down. So, I may go hungry or even say no to someone’s financial help plea because I’m broke. The money is there, but it can’t be withdrawn. Although, I do withdraw when my condition becomes critical, but I have a limit for that.

The same thing goes for money budgeted for something, such as business or any other important purpose. At this stage, when other money finishes and it’s only the budgeted one remaining, one is considered broke.

So, anytime I get a plea for financial help, I just know that the person is in this condition and not that the person is completely out of money. It could be that the person has money invested somewhere, but they simply can’t touch it at the moment.

Do you know the funny thing?

Most times, people have usable money but still come out saying they are broke. Why? It’s because these people do not want to touch that usable money at the moment — and this is very common among ladies.

When I was in a relationship, Lol 😂, I had this friend who was always broke. She would receive a huge sum of money and within 10 minutes, she had already gone broke. How? To her, that money could not be touched, and she always needed more because she was “broke.”

Thanks

There’s money that is for spending and money that is not for spending. But whichever one it is, I will make sure to always eat.😂

I will make sure to always eat.😂

!lolz 😂😂
Sometimes, I tend to play the hunger strike whenever I don't feel like touching the money that's not meant for spending and the one for spending is exhausted, but whenever the hunger is approaching 32%, Omo...😅😅

This definition of being broke applies to everybody very differently. It’s even funny when you some of the people that use that term aren’t even broke. They just want to relate. I like your approach to this topic. You just broadened my view on this topic
