No to Weightlifting
For those who have not seen my photo, I am slim in nature—the type that eats a lot and yet does not add flesh easily.
There is a common opinion among people that since slim people cannot easily add weight, they need to build their muscles to make their bodies look fuller and more complementary, instead of having a very straightforward body structure.
Way back in school, we had a local gym spot in our compound where boys usually went to do weightlifting in order to build up their muscles and make themselves attractive to girls. It was a very common thing—about 98% of the guys in our lodge did it. They went there every morning and some evenings, and when I saw how muscular their bodies were becoming, I decided to give it a try too.

I measured, examined, and imagined my body becoming muscular with my light complexion. OMG, I was going to be irresistible to the ladies.
I went in, and the first day was successful and fun. On the second day, I decided to increase the weight I was lifting so I could match what the big boys were doing. I struggled to lift the weights in a countable manner, and the next morning, I woke up with my entire body system stiff in pain.
No, this was not the normal muscle pull people experience after playing football. This one was different—my body system could not get up from the bed. My legs were so stiff and heavy, as if two bags of cement had been dropped on them.
When my colleagues found out, they went to get medicine for me. The medicine relieved me a little, and I was able to walk around that day, but hey, I missed class because it was a Thursday.
The next day, I completely forfeited the idea of weightlifting and building muscles. I could not go through that kind of pain all in the name of trying to look better. I preferred normal and simple fitness exercises to weightlifting.
Weightlifting is something a lot of people find fun and interesting, especially with the mindset that it will build the physical body system better. However, it is one thing I do not think I will try again. Thank God I am slim and I do not need to lift weights to lose weight. Lol 😅
Thanks for reading.
Lol,you should have continue with the small one you start with in the first day but is good that you want to move higher.
I wanted to build the muscle very fast and those small sizes do not work anything 😂
Weight lifting isn't something I can even delve into at all because I'm lazy in that aspect, I like the fact you want to lighter fitness routine.
Them say no be by laziness.😂
Actually, weightlifting is not by having Samson-like strength. You can start small and improve 😂
