SLOW AND STEADY

Someone once said, “when the use of something is not known, then abuse is inevitable”. As humans there are so many things we pursue daily and because of our quest of chasing our ambitions and dreams, we lose touch of so many things. We always just seem to be running out of time. We wake up daily because something pushed us to do so. And until we do that particular thing, it just feels like we are not spending our time wisely or we are not doing enough.

For the hiveghana topics for this week, I find the first topic really interesting which asks us to make a choice between unlimited time or unlimited money. As we all know, both of these things are important to carry out our daily tasks. Just imagine you always have a deadline to meet or you don’t have money to pay for even the tiniest thing. The truth is, none of these experiences is something anyone will want to encounter. But then, we are asked to choose just one of these luxuries as we can’t choose both.

To respond to the question, I’ll go with unlimited time and that’s because of so many reasons. I know most of us will go for money because that’s what actually pays the bills and you are probably wondering why I chose unlimited time. Well, I believe that time is valuable. So having enough of it is a free ticket to getting most (if not all) of the things we want. As someone once sang, he said “Time is money”. This is not literal but figurative. Having time might not make sense to some over money but it does to me. With more time, though I’ll work I can take care of things that needs to be taken care of with more time.

I know how I always wish I had more time to learn about some things in school but sadly the system doesn’t give you the time to do that. You are compelled to just adjust to the whole system ready or not but having unlimited time, I can define the pace at which I want to run. And trust me, I prefer the slow and steady pace anytime and any day. I hate to be in a hurry. It always seems like things only get worse when I try to go at a faster pace than I should. At first it might be going well but it always get to that point when I just feel overwhelmed and that slows me down even slower than it should have been if I had gone slow and steady.

With unlimited time, I can always be assured that I can accomplish whatever I want to. As they say, doing something repeatedly is what turns into an habit. So just by doing something consistently over and over, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a part of me. And I believe that’s a huge advantage of having unlimited time. And I also believe that with time, I can get as much money as I want but I won’t be able to buy myself time even with my unlimited money.
