Shiny Surprises, Thoughtful Gestures

I wouldn't say I'm not so used to receiving gift because, as individuals, we all have our own definition of a gift. Someone becomes a shoulder in your time of distress, it might count as a gift. Someone else dedicates their time and helps you out, or gives you attention when you really needed it, those can actually count as gifts. It doesn't always have tangible but yes, it's the first thing that comes to mind generally when we hear the word gift.

Personally, I don't get tangible gifts a lot from people, especially people that are not family. That was why, the first time I received a gift from a friend, it counted as one of the happiest days in my life. No, I wasn't celebrating anything. There wasn't an occasion, it was just a random gift from a friend who thought of me and decided to put a smile on my face.

Few years back, I got this beautiful necklace from one of my very good friends. The design wasn't so extra. It was minimal, simple , and completely my style. It was just like something I would get for myself if I happen to come across it. It had this little design like the shape a butterfly, those cute little creatures are one of my favorite things in the world. It was such a random and thoughtful gift.

And yes! It came with a note, I can't even remember what the note said now and I'm pretty sure I laughed when I saw the handwriting on the note,yeah, it was that bad but the gift it came with wasn't bad at all. I loved the thought behind the gift and the fact I could wear it with anything, perfect.

The other gift I got was from another friend when I went visiting. It was like a farewell gift to me when I eventually left their place. Another beautiful beaded bracelet, with a butterfly design again? Yes! It's wonderful how the gifts I've gotten from people are mostly jewelries. I'm a big fan of jewelries so trust me when I say I love every one of them. To think someone was actually observant enough to notice my preferences is enough, not to mention spending money to get one for me.

When I see those gifts, I don't just think of it like a simple piece of jewelry, I remember the people it came from and it makes me appreciate them more for being people close to me. The memories and kindness attached to those gifts makes it more valuable. I still have them after such a long time, and I still want to keep having them. I believe if you treasure something so much, you wouldn't want to let it go no matter what.

Gifts are beautiful things that are meant to make people smile. It doesn't matter the form it came as. Kind words, thoughtful actions or even beautifully wrapped surprises. It warms up the heart, especially when it comes randomly when one isn't expecting it, the feeling is on another level. At the end of the day, it's just about what was given, but the impact it made on the receiver.
