What do you like about nature?

It provides some super fruits in abundance for our Health and Wellness.

Who recognizes this fruit and has even eaten them ? This is Malabar plum or Black plum or Indian blackberry with the scientific name of Syzygium cumini, a tropical fruit native to Indian subcontinent with some super health benefits. Available during early monsoon season, it's health benefits and rich flavor attracts most people, and it always wonders me, how nature has these super fruits in abundance and knows when to give what. A zero cholesterol fruit with powerful antioxidants and highly nutritious with nutrients such as vitamin A and C, iron, calcium, sodium, potassium, dietary fiber etc is eaten raw and tastes like soft meat, with a sweet and slightly sour flavor.

I remember, back in our twenties, we used to go by bicycle and have had many of these plants on the road side, and if hungry, we would climb those trees and fill our stomach with this amazing super fruit. Gone are those days and now they sell at a nice price tag - 200 rupees a kilo, which has no production cost as it comes free from nature. The kid was shy showing her face when I took this photograph - another man standing beside and engaging him for the sale at counter.

20250611_161315.jpg

The lady could not resist and ate half of it before I put them with a little salt and green chili - leave it like that for couple of hours, and they taste super awesome, with a tingling effect - hope you get it....

20250611_161407.jpg

We try to eat every seasonal berry available in different seasons - they are natural medicine for our wellness. The dietary fiber and natural laxative property of this fruit promotes healthy digestion and even reduce inflammation in our body. And the potassium content regulates blood pressure and maintain perfect fluid balance in the body, contributing to healthy heart.

20250611_161608.jpg

And it's seeds are wonders - they enhance insulin secretion and can be used as a natural remedy for managing diabetes - the “third killer” of humanity. So we wash them and dry under sun and make a powder, and consume in moderate quantity, as it also provides benefits for liver and cardiovascular health. I know one of my friend's father, who entirely rely on this Jamun seed powder to manage his diabetes - he collects a lot of seeds after procuring in bulk from rural areas during this season for his round the year need - the fun being, you can eat the Jamun but have to leave the seed there.

The dried and powdered seed of the Jamun is frequently used in India to manage diabetes [16]. For years, Jamun seed powder has been used as a natural way to maintain a healthy blood sugar level, as well as treat cardiovascular and gastrointestinal problems [22]. Jamun is among the most perishable small fruits, yet it is also the most nutritious. It is mostly employed in the pharmaceutical industry, especially by diabetic patients. It contains many anthocyanins, which have anti-analgesic qualities

These super fruits are testament to the sweet tie between Nature and humanity - only if you try them out and see the result yourself to believe.

Good afternoon, dear friend @sanjeevm

Black plums have a delicious flavor, and as you say, eating them is very good for our health.

It's incredible all the benefits you get just from eating fruit. I appreciate you sharing all this information.

Have a wonderful afternoon.

Nature is beautiful. Most of the time, I always wonder what will be our life without nature

Hahaha I used to climb these trees as a kid too. Nothing beats that sweet tangy taste and the purple stains on your fingers afterward. Amazing how something so nutritious grows wild everywhere but costs so much in markets now

Yes, unfortunately, we are getting away from nature, and love to live in cities.

Hello Mr. @sanjeevm, good afternoon.

I loved learning about the many benefits this fruit has, in addition to being one of those delicious fruits.

It's great to know how many conditions it can help with.

Nature is amazing and she gives us different foods in different countries to help manage our health.
All countries have different requirements and she knows that.
The best thing people can do is eat local food in season!

And people do the exact opposite, just because they can afford, they don't know the long run implications, until they feel.

Yes they do and it pisses me off. We now have everyone going on about how wonderful avocados are. Well that is great if you are in a country that normally grows avocados.
But so many people aren't and the UK doesn't...
To meet the soaring avocado demand, vast areas of forests particularly in Mexico (the world's largest producer), are being illegally cleared to make way for new avocado plantations.
Then you have the fact that Avocado trees are incredibly thirsty. It takes an estimated 320 liters (around 84 gallons) of water to produce just one avocado.
Right enough ranting, it just winds me up.

Sadly I've never seen those nor eat them, but we have blackberries or raspberries which are still good as antioxidants, the anti diabetes property is very good!

I’m sure that the seed must have been working for your friend’s father since a longtime
That’s good. I love how seeds naturally cure us
They are better than the regular medicines which are common now

They are definitely way better than common English medicines, it just takes a little extra effort to prepare them but that people don't want to do it and instead grab a tablet, as its easy.

I'm hearing about it for the first time, but it has excellent properties for our body, so we should take advantage of all the blessings that nature offers us.

Getting natural medicine and the plants that nature provides us is the best and they surely seek it out a lot due to all the properties it contains to prevent many diseases while taking care of our health.

This is Malabar plum or Black plum or Indian blackberry with the scientific name of Syzygium cumini, a tropical fruit native to Indian subcontinent with some super health benefits

This is ଜାମୁକୋଳି . Blessed to have one such tree in our backyard, thanks to my forefather who planted it.

We try to eat every seasonal berry available in different seasons - they are natural medicine for our wellness.

Seasonal fruits, by default, are healthy and a must for all. Unfortunately, hybrid culture among the fruits segments is taking over.

And it's seeds are wonders - they enhance insulin secretion and can be used as a natural remedy for managing diabetes - the “third killer” of humanity.

I have seen people dry it in my village, remove the moisture, and grind it to a powder form and use it as a treatment for a diabetic patient.

Gone are those days and now they sell at a nice price tag - 200 rupees a kilo, which has no production cost as it comes free from nature

The cost is a bit high here, maybe because it's the capital city. Here, one can easily get it at 120 INR per KG.

Thank you.

It is also available in our city, but it is available for a short period of time and people like to eat it a lot because it is good for our health. So these people spend a lot of time and effort, so we should definitely buy from such people.

Never heard of this kind of plum but it looks and sounds delicious! :) Living in the tropics comes with this amazing benefit of having some fresh fruits and veggies available all year round. Here in my country, you can only have it for a few months in a year.

It's really delicious. I eat it with great pleasure. We call it Jamun in our language. I've always tried it with salt, never with chili.
