Art Journal: "Monochromatic Coastal Calm" βποΈ
Hello, Hiver friends and nature enthusiasts! How are you doing? I hope you're making the most of your day and finding peace and joy in your day.
This isnβt just a painting; itβs a whispered story. The use of coffee grounds creates a landscape of subtle beauty and quiet strength. The lone tree, with its branches reaching towards a muted sky, stands as a solitary sentinel against the calm expanse of water. The muted tones and delicate brushstrokes contribute to a sense of peaceful contemplation.
The beauty of this piece lies in its simplicity. Thereβs a raw, almost ethereal quality to the image, showcasing the versatility of coffee as an artistic medium. The subtle variations in shade and texture create a depth that draws the viewer in, inviting them to lose themselves in the tranquil atmosphere.
This coffee painting is more than just a visual delight; itβs an experience. It offers a moment of quiet reflection, a pause in the rush of daily life. It serves as a reminder of the beauty that can be found in the simplest things, like the quiet strength of a single tree standing against the vastness of the sky. Itβs a painting that speaks volumes without uttering a single word.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper, sketching Paper, or stretched canvas
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder / acrylic white
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure as the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to bring your painting to life. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
