To Do or Not To Do

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to chat a little bit about enjoyment but not before getting important things done!

To Do or Not To Do

We all want to have some time to ourselves to enjoy, but we gotta take care of business first!

I've been really enjoying getting into some oldschool games these last few months. Having played and beaten several like Wolfenstein, Doom and some others.

We have to make sure that we get the things we NEED to do out of the way before we slack off! That has been something I've tried to do on as many days as I can, although sometimes I just have a day or two where I say to hell with it, and indulge for a while without doing other things. Give and take!

I think this is an important thing to be able to balance. I have to be careful for sure though, because I've been addicted to video games in the past and it's not good. I certainly have been far better than ever before at managing it, but just like an alcoholic, there is always a chance of relapse! With video games.. it's a temptation for me for sure.

Getting to do the normal tasks that I do every evening has been a nice cycle for me. Whether it be cleaning, folding laundry, doing the dishes or making a bunch of food for the next few days, it's important to be in a routine where we do something like this whenever we have spare time. Not to ignore other down time activities, but we can't slack off before we get the real work done, is how I think of it!

Getting some of the work done has been a little harder since finding games like Zelda and others.. but I've been having issues saving the game progress I've made, and it makes me want to play it less and less because I have to start over every single time lol. I've got a thing I'm going to try to see if it helps.. but if not, then looks like I'll be playing very short games instead.

I think the balance aspect is super important though. I, like anyone, enjoy some free time and slack time, but at the same time, I've got a lot of responsibilities to keep up these days, and it's only going to increase in the future so I have to get in the right mindset and stay there. As Joe Rogan famously says, we have to keep our inner bitch in check. There are LOTS of times in which I would much rather say fuck it, and screw off instead of doing the things that I need to do but at the end of the day, it's incredibly important that I keep that inner bitch at bay, and do what I have to do BEFORE I get to slack off a bit and do something more leisurely.

The key here is for sure willpower...

It is exactly like this, whatever business we are doing, we will not give time to it and if we do not protect it, it will fail one day and this will lead to more problems in our life. So, life should be spent in time for all things and then it should be spent in the same way. Exercise is the business of every single thing.

Yeah it's for sure important to be flexible but also focused on the important things!

They say too much of anything is poisonous, so everything should be taken in moderation to keep life balanced—not just work all the time, but also some leisure, and not just leisure all the time, but also time for work. However, there are times in life when we end up doing too much of the less important things, while the truly important ones are left undone. Video games, for example, can really be addictive.

Yeah for sure!! Life is completely about balance. There needs to be good and bad to balance each other out. Good times will always share bad times.

Video games are for SURE addicting, and it's a little dangerous sometimes! Thankfully I've got a much better handle on them than I have in a really long time, but I still have to be very careful!

It's always a tough balance! Because I have so many things that I would like to do - it's a happy problem nonetheless. Sometimes I try to plan ahead and use tasks app to organise my stuff.
