Simple foods from a simpler time
I want to go back to a simpler time with more nutritious food and less stress from being chronically online.
There is brand of protein bread I have been buying lately, but they are often sold out. So I thought fuck it, let me make it myself and I will do that today
I have been looking at the Viking time and what they ate and how they prepared their food and such.
Less ingredients, yet more whole food ingredients :D
I am starting the process of baking bread for myself to this week for breakfast. Which only have 4-5 ingredients (depending on if I am going to mix some flour with other flour). Not a fast process whatsoever :D
Also want to try and make some Sour Candy from 1800 :D
1800 century Sour Candy
Get Limes, Oranges & Lemons.
Remove the insides of the fruits and save the peel.
Soak the Peel in water for 2 days up to 5 days for removal of the bitterness.
Afterwards boil/simmer a mixture of 50% water & 50% sugar for 1 hour.
Take the fruits out, put them on a bed of sugar and finish with sprinkles of sugar on top
What I have already done
Breaking free from my adhd medicine is something I am testing. Last week I didn't that any meds and I slept so much better than when I am on the meds, with the meds (because its speed) I have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep.
Also, focusing on a protein rich diet in the early mornings and carbs later is something I have found works amazingly for me.
I am just starting out. :D
Here is a cookbook from 1876.
IF you search archive.org for the author, he has lots of food howto's in his books.
I don't know how much anxiety is affecting you, but this is a homemade herbal anti-depressant.
