BitcoinBaby Went P2E - Does Investing In Gods Unchained Make Me Money?

Why does it take me so long to follow up on some awesome advice?
Am I that Stubborn or just that Stupid?
Well, whatever it was it took longer than I wanted.

But I finally did it, no not IT, I finally listened.

I wanted to do a monthly update on my travels through the realms of Gods Unchained (GU), but it took me six weeks to just take the advice I got from @kstreet .

For improving your game, we all use:

https://gudecks.com/

Here you can see an analysis of the meta. For example, two power links are:
Top decks:

https://gudecks.com/meta/top-decks

Top players:

https://gudecks.com/meta/player-stats

You can click the player names to see what decks they are playing. Many of those decks are going to be expensive, but you'll discover some cheap ones that are still very effective. That's what I would build towards. Aggro-war decks are particularly effective and low-cost in the current meta.

Yes, that was the best bit of advice I got on my first GU post:

BitcoinBaby went P2E - No clue what I am doing in Gods Unchained

Next Step

Still, it´s quite a step forward considering it took me 4 months to write that post and confess I was a little lost baby in a huge Gods Unchained world. So from that angle, I am making progress.

Now as said in the title, does investing in GU make me money? Now in that July post I showed I made 85 GOD in those 3 months.

image.png

Hence those first 3 months playing every night made me 15 cents per night.

What Else Did I Do Those First Four Months?

If you are to lazy to read that first post, let me quickly summarize how I got started:
I started playing without reading of watching any tutorials
I started selling without having a clue about prizes
I started asking around and got some useful links (https://tokentrove.com/ & https://guforge.com/)
I got better at selling
I learned how to forge
I thought myself some cobmos
I played four months with almost the same Deception deck.
I did not get past Rank 8 for the first 4 months, which I just learned is a Bot Rank??

Then I wrote my post and got that tip, it might be the golden tip who knows?

Of course, I don´t listen, or at least do not follow advice to the letter as I am too much in love or accustomed to my Deception deck which I have been playing every night for the last six months.

So no War Aggro for me, but let´s try:

Aggro Deception

Screenshot 2023-09-04 110614.jpg

The one at the bottom

I used the standard filters, hence the last 3 days, and Rank Mythic, let me know what filters the pros use.

image.png

Now I looked at the cards and noticed I was at least holding some, I liked that Kaya, Conduit of the Gods card. I checked the price and was like ....oops but okay.

I looked at Hortuk, Fallen Commander, and was not so impressed so I did not check the price.

What I did do was start to buy the required cards to mimic this deck.

Baby´s First Shopping Spree

The fact that I already had to buy several 1 Mana & 2 Mana cards told me that these probably were not your standard drops.

Last year I found out that investing in HP on Hive, pays out in the upvotes on your posts and I think that tactic is what @Protoaddict is directing me toward:

image.png

And when he told me this, I did not know how right he was on those "Dirt Cheap Cards"

Armor lurker, Stoneskin Poison, and Surprise Delivery are all dirt cheap.

Because I bought 2/3 based on the decks I wanted to mimic:

Screenshot 2023-09-04 112721.jpg

Screenshot 2023-09-04 113014.jpg

Now I am still doubting Surprise Delivery but still 2/3 ain't bad.

Just wondering why Shadow of Lethenon?
I mean I saw what it could do, but was not that impressed.
Let me know what I am missing.

So What Else Did I Buy?

I think I am gonna love this card:
Screenshot 2023-09-04 111439.jpg

Now I never got this Pickpocket, until I understood the strategy of this Deck. It´s Guild and with Stoneskin Poison I might be able to accelerate the order and start picking those random opponent cards.

Screenshot 2023-09-04 112125.jpg

With a guild-based deck, this card might be a cheap way to strengthen my hand. Let's see if it proves itself.
Screenshot 2023-09-04 112345.jpg
Because I know I definitely think I will need to fine-tune my poo deck.
With Order & Guild being the keywords these next two cards definitely made sense to buy:

Screenshot 2023-09-04 113312.jpg

Screenshot 2023-09-04 113635.jpg

Weirdly enough I was not holding them (yet), so I expect they will land in my hand soon. But who cares I was spending money to make money; so a bit more would not matter.

But I did doubt this next buy, two of these Spawns of Callaryn might give my Aggro that final push, but I doubt this card a bit.
Screenshot 2023-09-04 113829.jpg

Now this Looter Dude I bought times five as you can see;
Screenshot 2023-09-04 124848.jpg

For the simple reason I might just make a buck and get some return on my investment on the short notice;

Screenshot 2023-09-04 125419.jpg

So I put in on sale for:

Screenshot 2023-09-04 125438.jpg

That would get me 6 GODS back, 6 of the 60 GODS I spent on building this deck.

Did I Mirror the Entire Deck

After playing my own Deception deck for five months I am a little pigheaded. I am not going to copy the entire deck, I made some minor changes. And one big one.

The Big One

So I bought all the cards I was missing and now it was to buy Hortuk, Fallen Commander.

I expected it to be expensive, like double what I paid for Kaya.... it was not double....it was not even quadruple!

image.png

Okay, now I get why this was a $100 deck, because all other cards combined don´t even get close to the price of Hortuk.

Above My Budget

I did not even have the budget to buy this guy, but if anyone has a powerful cheapish 7 Mana card suggestion let me know, for now, I went with WitherFingers:

image.png

And I kept this lovely Deception card:

image.png

I also kept this combo; Dart Maniac & Uncanny Rogue because for six mana I can give a Deadly punch to the weakest card at the end of every turn.

Or use that Uncanny Rogue with the Vanguard Axewoman to quickly eliminate a strong opponent.

Last But Not Least

Last card I kept was:

image.png
Kept it just because it delivered in the past, but I might get rid of it in the near future.

So what cards did I not get from the deck I mimicked?

This guy never really got me, it´s just too little of a punch so I did not get any:

image.png

For now I got only one of these and not two but as it´s Guild, Cheap, and only one mana I might get a second soon.
image.png

I also got only one Encumbered Looter, because I am not expecting to need to draw many cards with this deck.

image.png

So I did a lot of mimic and a bit of me, tonight I am gonna play and see.

If it works I will make sure to upgrade all to Meteor or More!

Bottom Line

Back to making money through investing.
I did notice that I almost doubled my GODS Tokens between the 20th of July and early September. Because I did 85 in 3 months and 65 in the next six weeks. That took me to 17 cents a night on average.

That increase was due to improving my deck and increasing the Shine (quality) of the cards in that deck. Now I invested 60 GODS tokens in new cards, and another 10 on upgrades to Meteor or More.

What will that investment do?
Will it drastically increase my stack of GODS or have I invested in all the wrong places?

At this moment I hold fewer GODS than I did six weeks ago. Now if this investment works I should make 65 GODS in under six weeks. My goal is to make those 65 GODS back before my next post. Which I promise to write in four weeks.

image.png

Stay Tuned

Come back in four weeks and see if taking advice and being a little Cocky will make 65 GODS & finally get me to Rank 10 and beyond.

For now, all advice is welcome.

Especially if someone knows how to refresh your Inventory without rebooting the game on a laptop. Because the cards I bought only showed up after rebooting the game.

I asked some questions throughout the post, but any tips are welcome, and will get a shout-out in my Next GU post. Your tips are not just for me, they are for all the little lost boys and girls wandering through those GU realms with no clue what they are doing.

Thank goodness you made it till the end Peace, love and I am out of here!

I never jumped on the bandwagon for this one. I had already invested in so many other projects and I was spread really thin when it came out. I feel a little bad about that now, but I guess that is just the way it goes.

Well I totally missed out on all until now, and this one is quite fun so far, but I guess you need only one or two and stick with them as long as you are having fun.

Sad thing is, many of them never ended up actually producing games. GU is one of the few that did.

Yep, Hortuk is expensive! He's a great card, but the best aggro deception decks don't run him anyway. For filters, I usually look at the past 7 days in mythic. I find a fully-meta deck like this one:

https://gudecks.com/decks/GU_1_2_BDuBDuBEXBEXBGVBGVBGeKCuPAgCCQCCQCCmCCmCDDCDDCEPCEPCEcCEcCEwCEwGCEGCEIAkIAkIAlIAlIClIClICy?godPowers=101308,100125&creator=ciliumcho&userId=3548070&archetype=Hidden%20Rush%20Deception

Then, since I don't have all those cards, I find replacements. I will say that Pyramid Wardens + Assassin's Aim accounts for a lot of aggro deception's wins, so if you don't have Pyramid Wardens, don't expect to win as often. This is partly why aggro war decks are the default cheap aggro option. They perform just as well for <$50 worth of cards. Here's an example for $20:

Thanks for those filter settings I had too many options !LOLZ ;
Assassin's Aim is on my list for replacing some more heavy mana cards although I prefer dark knives as its cheaper but I am keeping it on my shortlist while fine-tuning.

Pyramid Wardens, I just saw that one this week but a little above my current budget, but on the wishlist.

Will check your suggested decks this weekend, Thanks again for such useful feedback

Reading this, it's all gibberish to me lol but I never played this one myself so that's not that weird ;) I was full into Splinterlands back then and did not have time for another game lol.

Curious to see how you manage to earn it back in these weeks, seems like you're improving reading this..

I was way too busy learning about crypto back then, but the bear market gave me time to catch up and play around.
Yes I am improving but as I have to figure it all out ,myself it took a crazy long time. !LOLZ Lets see if investing makes me more.

Sometimes it's easier to invest indeed. I'm the same with Splinterlands, I used to be in the highest league and earn quite well but I didn't see how this was going to be a BOOMing thing later so I sold all these expensive gold foil legendary cards, some were only printed 80 max, and I had 2 of these.. I won't be able to catch up on the game if I wanted to because of the new rules and the money you need for a good deck nowadays, but I'm considering to buy some cheap cards to make some money flipping them later..
I don't even want to dedicate that much time to a game anymore lol, it was literally a daily task to get done and sometimes took half a day lol.

Half a day is sick, I just play the 10 daily games starting after dinner and most of the days I finish before 23:30 and I play while watching series. So it´s not really eating hours.

I am probably very late to the party but at least this is an ongoing party because many of these type of games died or never made it.

For now I am just selling some cards I don't use to generate some funds to upgrade some cards, but I do plan to see how popular the game gets in the next bull and sell into it a bit.

True, many started and never delivered. I wish I could see the bigger picture of Splinterlands exploding as it would have literally made us rich! But hey, another expensive lesson which I paid for lol.

I don't know the history of Gods Unchained but it's been around for a while so if it has a solid userbase, it seems a good bet you're betting on with not too much invested.. Splinterlands has been very hard for people with a bit of money to spare to buy themselves in, times have changed big time.. It's possible but not as easy as it used to be at the start. I surely would not want to dedicate that much time to a game anymore..

Those that kept their assets are all doing well I guess lol.

Great to see you progressing so well and building a nice deception deck. Deception is my arch enemy in this game so maybe we will face off soon!

!LOLZ are you using a light deck by any chance?
I really get annoyed by these Light guys, but also by other Deception decks as I keep thinking....why did I not see that coming? But you are probably a much higher rank then me still.

You are making some great progress and sticking with one god power is a good way to go. I have been mostly playing Anubian, but this week switched to a Light Aggro deck again. The Light deck has some great combos! I think Auric Solar was my highest rank, but now hover around Auric Gold.

Well that would mean I have to at least reach 1 level up and you one rank down and we meet at Midnight (Shadow) ;)

Hi, "Kaya" will allow you to finish games or clear the field of hidden creatures and
"The Hollow" will fill your hand with creatures, good progress.👍👍👍
