The betrayal friend

Lola and her mum were two known inseparable twins in our neighborhood. I called both of them twins just because of how they both look alike and not about their outward look alone, but their relationship.

In fact, if not told, no one would know that Lola and her mum were not twins. It's our second year in the neighborhood that I got to know that Lola and her mum were not twins.

I got to know when I asked a friend of mine who was close to them about their mother. I asked segun saying,

“Segun, I have been seeing these two, where is their mother and their father?”

So, when I asked Segun about the whereabouts of both the father and the mother, he answered me and said,

“That's the mother.”

Segun pointed out to one of them and identified her as the sister, but it took me more minutes to be very sure of what he was saying and behold, when I looked closely, I realized that it's true. It's after this that I asked,

“Segun, why were they so close and look alike?” he replied and said, “that's the mystery of God.” he continued and said, “this is the same question everyone has been asking, but there were no answers to.”

However, in my mind, I was just wondering how this could be possible for a mother and a daughter to look so alike, but even at my thought, I could not but ask Segun about the father.

So, when I asked him about the father, his response was to weakening as he asked,

“You are asking about the father?” “I said, “yes.” He said, “That's a long story.”

Segun continued to tell me about the father, he said the father had been married away by another woman, who happened to be the friend of the woman, i mean, (mama Lola).

When he said this, I was eager to listen to him as I paid him rapt attention.

Segun continued and said, mama Lola has a friend, a very close friend for that matter. This particular friend of mama Lola is a single mother who has given birth to a girl of Lola's age.

So, it all began when this mama Lola friend whose daughter's name is Agnes was chased out by her own husband for the infidelity, so, because of their closeness, mama Lola was not happy with the situation of what happened to her friend and just because of this, she promised to help her friend in her trying moment.

In the course of helping her friend, she promised to help her talk to her husband to allow them to accommodate her even for a month before she can secure an accommodation.

So, when she told her friend this, her friend appreciated her and when her friend, Mama Lola got home, she discussed the issue with her husband who was at first reluctant, but later gave in to his wife's wish.

Immediately mama Lola's husband granted her wish, she called her friend and congratulated her, telling her that her husband has agreed to help her, mama Agnes.

When mama Agnes this, she was happy and she asked her friend to give the phone to the husband.

“Hello sir,” she greeted. “Hi madam.” Daddy Lola replied. “Thank you for your love sir,” she appreciated, “you are welcome” he replied.

So, after the short conversation, the phone was returned back to mama Lola who asked her friend saying,

“When are you coming?” “by the special grace of God, I will be there this coming weekend,” she said. “We will be expecting you,” mama Lola replied.

So, when it's the weekend, Mama Agnes and her daughter came with their full load to her friend, Mama Lola's house and she was welcomed by her friend's family and was checked into the visitor’s room.

Although the husband was not around, when he came in the night, he met with her wife's friend and they both greeted each other, though they've known each other before, but not so deep.

After talking for so long, Segun paused and took a glass of water and after he had taken the water he continued, but before he continued, I asked him saying,

“Segun, what happened now?” He replied and said, “you have to exercise patience until the end before you can get to know what happened at the end.”

So, he continued. He said, after a few weeks, things began to change in Mama Lola's family as the husband started to come home late in the night. He said not only that, mama Agnes too would not be home on time, but that the woman, mama Lola, was not smelling any foul play as she trusted her husband and her friend so much.

Apart from that, the woman would not even notice anything as both would not come home together.

Segun said, when the one month she had promised her friend elapsed, she called her friend one morning and told her that the one month she had promised her had elapsed, but the friend begged her to give her two more weeks, when the friend had requested for two more weeks, mama Lola promised to help her talk to her husband to give her two more weeks and on getting to the husband, the husband told her that there's no problem. He even said he can be living with them till she's found a befitting place to settle down with her daughter, Agnes.

When the wife heard this, she was confused as she could not believe that her husband who was at first not so comfortable with her friend coming would be telling her that her friend should not bother to leave until she gets a befitting place to settle down with her daughter.

So, after what her husband told her, she began to be suspicious and one fateful day, the man left his phone unlocked and the wife, mama Lola went to check the husband chats and it's in one of the chats that she found out that her husband and her friend had gone far even within a month in having s3xual relationship.

When she saw this, she couldn't hold it. So, when the husband came, she confronted him, but instead of the husband feeling remorse, he flared up and said he can do whatever he likes.

Also, mama Lola went to confront her friend, but that one was just mocking her, telling her that,

“Something good is not meant for only her.”

When she heard that, she bursted into tears and because she could not bore the pain, she decided to move on with her life and that's how they moved to our neighborhood, Although, I was not there when they moved in, but segun told me it's like a year earlier before we moved in. He said, mama Lola's closeness with his mum made him know much about them and that that's how a once happy family got scattered.
