My real good friend

Greetings!

Segun was a very good friend of mine in whom I put all my trust and would always put him in charge of so many things to oversee for me.

There was a day he called me and asked me as to why I have trusted him so much. He asked,

“Sam, why did you so much trust me like the way you have trusted me?” “That's my own nature and kind of person, and after all, you are my personal person.” I replied. “It's well,” he replied.

Segun was a guy I met in school and back then, when we met, we were not that close, but there's a time when I was not feeling well in the hostel. He came to my rescue and rushed me to the school health center.

Aside from the fact that we are classmates, Segun also happened to be my neighbor in the hostel and when my roommates were not ready to come to my aid when I was ill, Segun being a classmate and a neighbor of mine in the hostel came to my aid.

So, this singular gesture of his drew us closer to each other and that was when we started to have this cordial relationship with each other.

After I was discharged from the health center, he was the one doing everything for me, he would cook for me and even help me wash my dishes and clothes.

One day my mum came to my school and when she saw Segun taking care of me, she was happy and was very confident that Segun would take good care of me. She left the school happy that day and when she was going, she gave Segun some amount of money.

After she got home, she called Segun and thanked him for taking care of me and my dad equally thanked him for standing by me in my difficult time and he even promised to see us soon.

Fast forward to after I was feeling better, Segun and I decided to stay together and instead of him paying the house rent, my own parents decided to be paying the rent and also asked him not to bother his struggling parents back home.

When he heard this, he was happy and he called her parents and told them everything that my parents told him. When his parents heard this, they were filled with joy and instantly, they asked him for my dad 's number and then they called my dad and they thanked him for his kind gesture.

So, ever since then, it's been me and Segun doing our things together. At times when we have our session break, we do go to our place together to enjoy the holiday together.

Also, it's Segun that first took me to their village as I have never been to a village before. If I were asked where cassava or yam is being harvested, I would tell anyone that it's on the tree and that it can only be plucked by using the sickle, but that was before I got to know this my friend Segun.

One thing about our relationship is that it's not a one sided relationship as Segun would always bring farm produce to school whenever he's coming back to school.

As if that's not enough, he would be the one to cook our food as I didn't really know how to cook like that.

Aside from this, Segun is a genius and when it comes to academics, he's better off than me as I would not even move close to his ability.

However, because of our relationship, I was able to be like him. He was a challenge to me and he would always challenge me to do more.

I could remember how he would not let me rest in the room as he would always stay awake in the middle of the night to read.

One day, I woke up in the middle of the night. On this day, I went to his corner and I told him saying,

“Segun, this life is not as hard as you've taken it to be, you better don't kill yourself.” He replied and said, “ thank you.”

So, after we had lived for like four years together at school, then, it's time for us to graduate and we both graduated well with a first class honor each.

After our year in the university we went on to serve our country at different places after which we got a good job and till now I and Segun are not just friends but family.
