That Stormy Day At The Market... Creative Non-Fiction

We were reluctant, the comfort of our home compared to the busyness of the market place in our thoughts was just too much imagine, we wanted to stay back and maybe go to market another day. We should have sticked to that as a plan but there was almost nothing to eat at home, we had to embark on the journey to the market closest to us.

It was close but took more than 10 mins with a vehicle to get to the market, we noticed the changing weather and even our younger brother couldn't stop talking about the weather forecast his phone informed him about.

My sister and I still didn't listen or maybe we were ready for whatever we were going to face at the market that day. No, we were not ready and we didn't use the time we had to prepare for it.

We got to the market and it kept getting dark as if it was late in the evening when it was only noon. My sister suggested we buy quickly so at least we'd be on our way back should the rain start pouring.

We were so sure it was going to rain heavily but what happened next while we were at a shop shocked us. Items, foods, umbrellas and even heavy stuffs in the market began to fly around and some went up and rotate in the sky. We even saw a guy with loads on his head struggling to keep the load on his head, he almost fell down.

While it left the whole market in rush and extra busyness, we couldn't stop watching in awe what a heavy storm could do as the rain began to pour so heavily. We couldn't even stay away from being wet in the shop we stayed in as a shade away from the rain. From a distance, we saw that a ground close to the main road opened up thanks to the storm, it was a sight to remember.

The more the rain poured, the more wet we got and things kept flying away from their positions. A lady even fell down and some guys joked about it that she was too light weighted and the storm almost took her away.

We couldn't get all we had went to the market for before it started to rain but we stayed calm hoping that it would end before evening and we would continue our activity.

A very loud sound from the sky sent a little boy crying so loudly and holding his mother, he was scared of lightning. I was scared too but I couldn't show it as there was mostly adults around who seem not to be so shaken by the heavy storm going on.

We, the unlucky sisters didn't wear well covered cloths so the cold from the rain while we were under the shade kept growing worse and we kept wishing for the storm to end.

We waited until late in the evening before the rain calmed down a bit for us to manage it through and get home. Drenched, cold and tired, we went inside the house and to find warmth. It was a day not to be forgotten for the both of us.

Yes, I'm sure the best idea would have been to stay home, but if there was no food, they had to go out and buy it, so no way. There is a phrase that says that rain blesses, so a shower of blessings to you. Greetings

Haha I'd like to think we had a lot of blesses given to us that day 😅 that's a good way to see it.

Well, it seems like the battle between staying at home hungry and the chaotic marketplace waged on in your minds! Who would have thought that a trip to the market would turn into an epic struggle?

No one would have thought that but I think we'd still be at the market if we had known 😅

What an adventure they had to go through, to go shopping for food, the worst thing is that they returned home without them, greetings and good luck in the contest.

WOW, What an experience. Watching the storm cause chaos in a very interesting way could be a sight to behold. The sellers should have noticed earlier and pack their things to avoid all the dramas. It's a good thing you and your siblings were able to find shelter and watch all the sight catching display caused by the heavy storm.

Yeah, I guess they had the mind that it could all be a disguise for another bright day 😅 but they realized late.

Glad we found a shelter but it didn't do much good lol

It's a day you'll not forget in a hurry, the whole drenching waters and the fact that you could be in the comfort of your house while the rains poured heavy

I have faced that kind of situation several times and I also can easily relate to this post very well. I feel happy in the time of storm don't know why. Maybe I hardly see a storm and that can be a possible reason.

she was too light weighted and the storm almost took her away.

It made me remember that once some people used to say that storm would take me away when I was a tiny child.😂

Haha I was also told that even when I grew older because I was so light 😅
Some storm could actually do that.

Being caught up in rain especially in the market is no fun at all, you can't even move around to check and price the items you needed properly.

Those guys wicked🤣 light weight? Haha😂😂

Lol my dear, rain and market can't connect at all 😅

Don't mind those guys, tiny girls have suffered in their mouth 😂

That should be listed as one of the nightmares of life. Being caught in the rain at the market. I may say that you must have done something to offend someone. But I know you're a good woman so that's not the case, right?😂

I knew it was sent by someone. Merit change your ways so people won't keep sending rain after you.😂
Glad you shocked the person. Let them know that you're iron woman.

How well you told this story. It was quite an experience and you noted many details that occurred while waiting for the storm to subside.
I enjoyed it.

That must have been some storm! The way it whipped around and lifted things through the air it almost sounded like a tornado, but I guess it was just a storm with very strong winds and rain. Incredible to witness but it sounds like it made for a very long and uncomfortable day.
