Late for the academic sprint

Everyone knew Julius was the best student in his class. In his first year, he made top of his class and this attracted the love of his lecturers and course mates. They would always want to be around him, so they could learn what they couldn't understand from their lecturers. The fame got to Julius, and he started slacking behind, and those who noticed tried to put him back on track, but Julius felt he was above mistakes and corrections.

"Julius, I'm not impressed with your academic results of late. You've worked hard to beat the record, and now that you're supposed to even work harder, you seem to be too relaxed. What's distracting you in your finals?" Mrs Evelyn, Julius course adviser asked him.

"I'm not distracted Ma. I'll try my best to get back on track; I just had a few things that I needed to fix, but that's all in the past." Julius replied.

"Better for you. So, why haven't you started your project? You do know that if you don't finish on time, it'll be hard to find anyone who would be interested in whatever you may come up with later on?." Mrs Evelyn asked him.

"Ma, I'm working towards that. I've gotten the money I need for the project. With time, I'll place in orders for the tools and materials that I need for my construction." Julius replied.

"You need to step up your game, Julius. You might be a first class student from your first year, and yet in your finals, you could drop to third class. This is no time for you to be too relaxed. A time for that will come, but for now, you need to be focused so you can graduate in flying colors and make your parents proud." Mrs Evelyn advised, and Julius excused himself.

Three days later, the supervisor in charge of Julius project called him to his office and complained about Julius nonchalant attitude towards his final year project. Julius promised to start working on it soon, but after the conversation, he went home and relaxed even more.

"Julius, why are you not taking these lecturers serious?" One of Julius friends and course mate asked him.

"Who said I'm not taking them serious? I'll do the project. I just don't want to be doing what everyone else is doing, and the truth is that I can finish mine in a day." Julius replied.

"I just hope it won't be late when you finally decide to work on this project, because it'll affect your records. You're already lagging behind on other things." His friend said.

Julius kept being nonchalant because he felt he had time. One day, when their project supervisor said he would be inspecting their constructions, Julius placed an order for the tools and materials that he would need.
He felt his goods will arrive as soon as possible, but he was told to wait for a week. When the goods finally arrived, and Julius started working on his project construction, every other person in his department was already done, and the few that were not done were doing their finishing touches.

Julius thought a day was enough to make the construction, but it turned out to be false, and he struggled every day to complete it, but it the wasn't coming out fine. The day for the inspection came, and Julius had nothing concrete to present.
Two days after the inspection, he was finally able to have come up with something presentable, and he went to his supervisor, so he could check it out and make his corrections but it didn't work out well for him.

"Julius, I've already done the inspection. I can't leave my office just to see one person's work, but I'll do you a favor; if you can find two extra students who are in your shoes, than I can inspect your works together." His supervisor said.

"Sir, there's no one else. It's just me." Julius replied.

"Well, I'll see you on the final presentation day, and you have to make sure that what you've made will be perfect, if not your results will be affected. You should have started when others started theirs, but you felt you knew better than everyone else. Now you're late to the game, and there's nothing I can do for you." His supervisor said, and left Julius looking dejected.
