CNF#149.... A joyful birthday.

I was to attend the birthday party of my best friend which was coming up soon. I had been anticipating how the party would be and preparations was ongoing in earnest.

I followed my friend to book the venue that she would be using and we also went to book for the cake and small chops as well to be used.

After all arrangements had been made for the party, we were now waiting for the D-day. I was so happy for my friend because she had been through a lot in life. So celebrating with her was the least that I could do for her just to make her happy.

I could not sleep on the eve to her birthday because I wanted to be the first to wish her a happy birthday. I had already typed the birthday text I was going to send to her and I was waiting for the clock to strike 12 a:m, so that I could send it.

I was checking my time and immediately it was 12 a:m, I sent her the text and called her as well.

“Hey birthday girl, happy birthday. I wish you many more years ahead with good health and prosperity, age with sufficient grace.” I said with a glorious tone.

“Thank you dear. Why are you not sleeping by this time?” She asked.

“I wanted to be the first person to wish you a happy birthday,”

“You have succeeded in doing that already. Thank you dear, I really appreciate your good wishes for me.” she said with a grateful voice.

After I hung up the call, I went to bed and dozed off. I woke up by 10 a:m the following day since it was a Saturday. I did my chores since the party was in the evening.

I looked for the dress I was going to wear and rested for some time. I rested till 4pm before I started preparing for the party.

I walked into the venue, and the vibrant atmosphere immediately caught my attention. Balloons floated above the tables and sound of laughter and chatters filled the air. The birthday girl beamed with joy, surrounded by loved ones. I could not help but smile as I joined the celebration.

“Happy birthday dear!” I exclaimed, giving her a big hug. “You look amazing.”

“Thanks girl, Mary replied, with a smile. “ I'm so glad you could make it. I've been waiting for this day for weeks.”

The decorations were a perfect blend of elegance and playfulness, reflecting the personality of my friend. The whole place was filled with the aroma of delicious food which was making my stomach growl with anticipation.

“I can't wait to have a taste of this food.” I said to Mary. “ Don't worry, you know what my mom can do now. She has been in the kitchen all day trying to make sure everything came out well.

As the celebration progressed , I decided to make a toast to my best friend, Mary. “To Mary, she is the most kind-hearted and generous person I have ever known.” “May this year bring you all the joy, love and happiness your heart desires.” Cheers.

The room was filled with cheers as we all raised our glasses for the toast. Mary’s eye sparkled with happiness as she blew out the candles on her cake. As she blew out the candles on her cake, someone shouted “make a wish.” she said “ I don't have to make a wish because I'm already surrounded by the people I love and cherish , “What more can I asked for?”

As we sang Happy birthday song for Mary, her smile lit the room. We spent the evening chatting, dancing, laughing and talking about the old days.

The Dj played a mixture of our favorite songs that we began singing along, enjoying the time of our lives.

The evening was a joyous one that I will never forget in a hurry.

As we said our goodbyes, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the friendship in my life. I felt grateful to have been part of Mary's celebration.
