The First Kiss
I noticed her constantly staring at me almost every time I looked at her direction right before she looked away. Did my face look familiar with someone she had met before? Or was it something else? I read somewhere that one of the signs to tell if a girl is into a guy is when she fixes are eyes on him and immediately looks away when there eyes meet. Perhaps that was the case. Maybe she was into me. In fact, I don't know what to think.
I returned to the hostel that evening after the lectures for the day. I lay on the bed exhausted. I could use some social media to help me relax. I navigated to the blue app and opened it. I saw a friend request. Behold, it was her. I clicked on the profile and then the display picture just to be sure. Yep, it's definitely her. I paused for a few moments. In some sort of strange way I was actually happy to seeing this. I accepted the friend request.
Should I be the one to send her a message? Would it be too soon or should wait for some minutes or even an hour? Should I even send her a message at all? After all, she was the one who sent the friend request. While I was contemplating on these things I got a message notification.
"Hi".
Looks like she is the brave one.
"Hello. Good evening. How you doing?", I replied.
And that was how the conversation commenced. Hours felt more like minutes, and before I knew it it was a couple of minutes the time we normally have our prep.
"Will you be coming out for prep?", she texted as the time approached faster.
"Um, yeah...sure. Why not?", I responded, knowing where this was heading to.
"Alright, I'll be coming to. Do you mind if we meet up?", she returned.
"Not really. Sounds cool with me", I replied, wearing a happy expression that made my roommates stare at me suspiciously.
I jumped out of the bed excitedly. This is actually the first girl I'll be spending some time with since I got into this school. I dashed into the bathroom and was out within a minute. I even had my teeth carefully brushed. For a second I paused and asked myself, "Is this a date or something?". Whatever it was, I didn't really care about that. All I know is I liked the way I felt at that moment.
I stood in front of the school gate, looking sideways to see if she was approaching. It was a few minutes past the time we agreed to meet.
"Hello", she said softly as she approached from behind.
I turned and saw her standing right next to me. I still remember the dress she put on, a blue shirtsleeves slim fit gown a little bit below the knee. Other times I saw her it was usually from a distance. This was the closest I have ever been to her. Though it was evening, I managed to see some details in her eyes that almost made me almost not to cease staring.
"Hello. I was beginning to think you were not going to make it anymore", I finally uttered some words after a few seconds of awkward silence.
"Really? I'm just eleven minutes late", she replied with a smile.
"Oh... felt like thirty minutes", I thought to myself. "I guess we should be going to the prep now so we will be able to find a spot".
"How bout we just take a walk", she suggested.
"Uh...okay. That's not such a bad idea", I agreed with her.
We began walking slowly through the dark streets as we talked and got to know each other better. I loved the way her voice sounds. We had walked almost a mile and not even noticed. We approached a shade that I bought bean cake a few times which was closed now due to the late hour of the night. We found a bench and both sat down, and then continued our conversation.
After some moments, there was a striking silence in the air. What is she thinking right now? Was there something she was expecting me to say? Or perhaps do? The whole place was quite and lonely. If there was anything thing to do now would be the perfect time. I turned to her.
"I want to try something", I said to her.
She looked at me but didn't say a word. We looked each other in the eyes as we both drew closer to each other with the same pace. My heart was raising now. And then we had this awkward kiss. I could tell I did terribly. She drew back a little bit. Maybe I shouldn't have done that, this was a bad idea.
"I'm sorry I did that. It's getting late, we probably should head back", I said, feeling awkward already.
"No", she said as she held my hand and pulled me pulled me down as I attempted getting up from the bench.

I was back on the bench. And there we were, staring at each other in the eyes again, only this time she looked serious. A vehicle across the road passed with the head lamps on which reflected on her eyes. And for a few seconds I could see the details in her eyes more accurately. They were black, with a little shades of brown in them. They were really beautiful. And then my eyes went to her lips, and next thing my lips were on them. It was a beautiful feeling. Now, we could head back.
We walked back to the school premises, only this time we were much closer to each other than we were when we came, and the hands on our sides where interlocked with each other. It was more of a silent walk, but we were both okay with it.

Hahaha, really I can relate to this story. I'm not good at reading a signal from a girl when she loves me. But somehow, if when I manage to talk to her, I'll be nervous and shy too.. Glad that was then not now anymore.
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome brother. Glad to see someone who can relate. Thanks for reading
I read the full story and I like how he was happy when she sent the friend request. The first kiss felt real, a little awkward but sweet. I also love the part where they held hands walking back together.
See me imagining that kiss, please describe the kiss more, I would want to know about it.
Lol...it's indescribable my dear
Awwnn I really like the way you narrate everything in your story, I really had a good read
