You only live once
He was in love with Shaista, his classmate. For him, she was the most beautiful lady. In this ordinary girl, he saw what others could not see. Shaista was always occupied with her studies and did not involve herself in any of the relationships. Faizan kind of liked this, but it intimidated him at the same time that if he ever expresses his feelings, she would deny him straight away.
Jazib, his best friend, always encouraged him. He knew that they both would make a perfect match. They both were roommates and he kept emphasizing that," Faizan, you are not going to study here forever and neither is she. You only live once and if you do it right, once is enough. You ought to tell her what you feel for her because you have nothing to loose here. She is not with you right now and if you do not take this risk, she will not ever be yours."
One day, after their classes, Shaista went to the library and she was all alone there. Jazib called Faizan and told him, "This is the best chance. You will not face any kind of humiliation for she is all alone. Go talk to her."
Faizan gathered the courage and went straight to her without thinking much. However, on his way, different thoughts came rushing to his head, but he kept thinking about his smile.
"Hello Shaista, can we talk?" his voice echoed in the empty library, so he lowered his voice.
"Yes, go ahead" She replied.
"Shaista, I have no idea how you are going to respond to it, but this is something that I have been meaning to tell you since last two years now. Ever since I saw you for the first time back in 2022, I have fallen in love with you. I know you have to focus on your studies and career, but I had to tell you this. You are worth everything to me. We only live once and this life is short enough to be surrounded by what ifs and buts. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. However, I would respect your decision if you reject me. I cannot force my feelings on you. Your comfort and safety means a lot to me. Take all the time that you need to decide and do let me know."
This came as a shock to Shaista, her eye balls grew bigger and bigger and her hands started shivering. As Faizan continued the conversation, she became more and more comfortable.
She gently replied that I respect your feelings, Faizan and I like the way you communicated your feelings, we are both mature adults and we both have the rights to be expressive. I will let you know about this because this is the first time I have been approached by a guy in my entire life and I need some time to process it all.
Days passed and there was no communication between them. However, Faizan was comparatively happier now. The love of his life knew what he felt for him and he had no regrets. He even gave a treat to his friend and roommate Jazib who had been a great help for him in this phase of life.
Eventually, Faizan and Shaista did end up being together. It was because of the courage and confidence, the way Faizan expressed his philosophy of how you only live once and the articulation of Faizan that day in the library that impressed Shaista.
Life is short. We are alive this moment, but we are not sure about our next breath. It is up to us how we address the processes of life. We only live once and we should make it count.

That's superb of Faizan.
He took the bold step and it paid off.
Many times, we have faced with situations like that with many "what if?" rolling on our head😅
This is a nice story
Thanks buddy 😊
😊It’s actually heartwarming to see Faizan muster up the courage to express his feelings to Shaista, despite his fears. And Shaista's response also shows maturity and openness.
A great reminder that life is short, and we mustn’t let fear hold us back from pursuing what makes us happy. Thanks for sharing this inspiring story.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Means a lot ❣️
Wow, Faizan did what I couldn't, lol. I never mustered the courage to talk to my crush back then. The fear of rejection held me back.
Confidence is very important when asking a lady out.
You did well with this prompt.
Yes.
