Diwali Celebration

Illuminating the flame for happiness, harmony and prosperity.

DSC03685.JPG

Diwali is one of our major festival which is celebrated to symbolize the victory of light over darkness, good over bad and victory of righteousness over wrong doing.

DSC03686.JPG

Known as the festival of light, on this day, we enlighten diyas to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, to bring light into our lives, both literally and figuratively. Apart from diyas, we also put some traditional decorations using Rangoli, and after so many years, our daughter did a nice decoration at our home with Rangoli and lights.

Recently she had been into her leadership camp on her school and she prepared these diyas herself for this Diwali. It's nice to see her school encouraging traditional practices to preserve our cultural values.

The blue one was put in the center highlighting her leadership in this year's preparation to celebrate the function with high level of enthusiasm - girls are always treated as an ambassador of goddess Lakshmi, bringing good fortune, prosperity, and success for the family.

Earlier we used to enlighten only two diyas in front of the home so you can imagine, how special it felt this year. The flame is always powerful to chase away the darkness of ignorance and fill our minds with the light of knowledge and wisdom and Diwali drives away all negative energies and ignite our inner light of love, compassion, and faith - the lights from these diyas are a way to align with cosmic vibrations

And during Diwali almost every home is decorated with nice Rangoli and light and there is a kind of competition to show the best on this day, but I was very happy to see our daughter making this nice art, it may not be best amongst all, but it was best of her so far - she deserved an applause from all of us to make us feel special by her day long effort. As a parent, it always feel great to see our kids doing something beautiful, and learn something.

Now let me show you some lovely decorations put by other residents in our block - some are very simple and some are exhaustive designs that were done over a period of few days - people really plan it well ahead of time and spend time in getting these ready.

These decorations has stayed till today and Diwali has sparkled the festive mode inviting Winter. Afterwards we went down to celebrate and burst crackers with the community, these are the times to get united and enjoy the true benefit of living in a community, more to come on that...

Do not remain in Darkness, Come to light.....use the flame for spiritual awakening.

Your daughter's beautifully written efforts reflect the creative flair that is so evident in the true spirit of Diwali: passing on the light, culture and values to the next generation.

Those are really beautiful! I'd be so worried about accidentally kicking one and setting my house on fire! I'm kind of clumsy like that!

Of course, my friend, those decorations are so cool that preparing them from one day to the next is not easy; it takes time and the ingenuity of each neighbor to create the coolest ones possible and thus receive all the blessings that Diwali has prepared for us.
