Splinterlands Virtual Real Estate Updates: Land Earnings And Sentiments Towards Modern

SPL - Default - Updates 7.12.25 (1280 x 720 px).gif

It's been over a month since I last posted something on Hive. While I still continued to do my usual Splinterlands stuff (enter Brawls, harvest Land Resources, play a little bit of Modern Ranked), I felt like I needed a break from posting. Aside from being busy with and preoccupied by a lot of real-life events in the past few weeks (workload, holidays, family visiting, meeting up with friends), it felt a bit exhausting to even write about anything.

While I think I can do better with publishing articles and sharing my stories on Hive, playing Splinterlands ranked battles tells a different story. For me, for the time being, at least.

If you're interested to find out, please read on!

For now, let's begin with some Splinterlands Land updates.

Weekly Updates: Routine Harvest

This is more like the update for the month. The last time I provided some news regarding my land earnings was on June 7th, 2025.

I will share images and data of my harvests this past week, and later on, we will discuss everything else I have collected over the course of the past month.

Weekly Taxes from Region 46 Keep, July 12th, 2025

Weekly Taxes from Region 50 Keep, July 12th, 2025

I have yet to discover another totem fragment but I am always hopeful I'll find another one of these days!

I also earned the following from resource swapping:

DEC earned on July 8th, 2025

DEC earned on July 10th, 2025

DEC earned on July 12th, 2025

This week alone, I have earned 44,215 DEC!

As planned, the taxes collected from the Region 46 Keep were converted to Guild Power and were used to power up our Guild's buildings.

Guild Contribution in DEC

Weekly Guild Contribution

The higher the exchange rates of the land resources are, the more DEC I can contribute to build up our Guild!

The typical final step of my Weekly Routine is increasing my position in the Grain-DEC Liquidity Pool.

LP Weekly Deposit July 12th, 2025

I now own 1.205% of the pool. Slowly but surely, I will keep growing this position.

Keep 'em comin'!

The Grum's Canyon Experiment: The End Of The Road

We rebooted this experiment over five weeks ago. Our goal was to test whether or not smaller players can earn on Land even with only owning and developing a single plot.

This also proved the possibility of having a sustainable setup even without owning a Grain Plot.

Unfortunately, we have to end our experiment here since our Grum Flameblade rental has been cancelled by the owner.

Let's see how much we have accumulated from the beginning.

Worksite at Full Capacity

Swap previously harvest Stone for Grain

Grain Payment for Harvest

Weekly Stone Harvest

We collected 924 Stone every week! Today, we have stockpiled 5,000 Stone!

DEC Equivalent of Harvested Stone

If we were to sell it all today, we can receive 578.735 DEC for our (Grum's) hard work.

Did we generate a profit after paying for the rental fees?

Grum Flameblade Rental Cost

Per my older post:

I rented Grum on Monday, June 2nd, for 2.352 DEC/day.

Exactly 41 days from Day 1.

Screenshot from: https://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

There has been a minor discrepancy regarding the DEC/day fee since first renting the card but for our purposes, let's just say 2.35 DEC/day is the fee.

2.35 DEC x 41 Days = 96.35 DEC

Per this POST, we started the experiment with 2,219 Stone. Deducting this amount from our Grand Total, we get:

5,000 Stone - 2,219 Stone = 2,718 Stone. This is the amount our rental worker has collected overall.

Converting this quantity to DEC, we get:

Net DEC Earned

313.605 DEC (net harvest) - 96.35 DEC (rental fees) = 217.255 DEC

You can say it might not be much and might not even be worth your time and effort, but all I am trying to show here is that you can still earn something from a small investment in Land.

Land Earnings: Swapping Resources

Let's talk about my personal progress regarding Land. From June 1st until July 5th,the graph of the price of resources (in DEC terms) is as follows:

Screenshot from: https://land.spl-stats.com/

Below is a table listing the amount of DEC I have swapped during these five weeks:

WeekSwap 1Swap 2Swap 3Swap 4TOTAL
6/1 - 6/712,137 DEC7,496 DEC--19,633 DEC
6/8 - 6/147,821 DEC4,082 DEC5,827 DEC8,300 DEC26,030 DEC
6/15 - 6/2122,860 DEC7,496 DEC10,741 DEC-41,097 DEC
6/22 - 6/288,061 DEC12,612 DEC11,526 DEC-32,199 DEC
6/29 - 7/514,690 DEC11,580 DEC10,154 DEC-36,424 DEC

I made 155,383 DEC just from Land.

This is passive income.

New Land Assets: Building The Community

Not only did I acquire more land plots for my personal collection, I also made sure I continued to assist members of the TeamPH community accumulate more plots as well.

I am closing in on 100 active plots and 350 total land plots owned!

image.png

My current production lineup is as follows. Notice how I have an extra Lab Permit that I am not utilizing. This is because I decided to shut down 1 of my Aura Labs in lieu of a regular worksite.

This move increased my DEC earnings per hour.

image.png

Regarding our community, my peers now have more plots than I do in the tract we are continuing to build.

My project has been completed. All the plots I was willing to let go of within this tract are now in the hands of fellow TeamPH members.

What's Next For The Jedo?

I am beginning to enjoy time away from playing ranked battles. I do not play enough anyway to justify how much I have spent or need to spend on newer Modern cards.

I understand more players are having a great time with this new era of Modern. I am happy for these players. I really am. This is a good sign for the game.

For me, though, I think the fire in me to try to play competitively and earn rewards by active means has started to slowly fade away. I have grown weary of trying to keep up with new sets and new cards.

This doesn't mean I am leaving the game! If anything, I plan to further invest into Splinterlands Land.

After I reach my goal of reaching 100 working land plots, I will be in the market to acquire better, high PP workers that I can employ to further increase my land earnings.

I also might start building positions in the other Land Liquidity Pools.

Should I try to keep playing Modern and see if anything changes? Should I sell all my modern cards and use the proceeds to further increase my land assets?

I am still on the fence. Stay tuned.

Have you seen the upward movement of resource prices? I had to remove all the BFs from land for the conflict, but still pulling 800 DEC/hr, compared to before with the BFs, it was barely 700 DEC/hr

I did! I was surprised I collected 44k DEC this week compared to 35-ish k the 2 weeks prior.

Land is awesome!

Great post! Could've easily been two posts, just saying 😜 And yes, there is much value in this one, especially for me.

The end of the Grum-Experiment is sad, but 41 days of renting is quite the streak for that amazing price. Also, the results are nice. I think it's very insightful and now I definitely will want that one plot we talked about to conduct my own experiment :-D Remember that you only had one card working. If you put all 5 on the plot, everything goes up accordingly.

I love the new modern, and I often repeat that. The strategical depth is worth exploring, and although it's getting difficult for me without having maxed summoners, I still enjoy it a lot. If you are to sell your modern cards, let me know, I'm still buying more and more (as you know since I get my potions from you). Also, the ROI is still very nice.

The stake that you have in land and the DEC it produces can get you up the ladder easily. If I could buy 40k DEC worth of cards every week without doing much, I'd be very happy. And there are many other ways to multiply your DEC (SPL trader for example). But, at the same time - you already have a such a big stake in land that you can use that weight to gain more, and multiply that part of income.

Ahahaha. Don't worry. I plan to post more in the succeeding days!

Yeah, I'm a little bummed the Grum rental was cancelled. At least we had good enough data for all that time spent. And yes, I know I could have experimented with more workers but I wanted to make things simple and easy to understand. Players can experiment with what they want to see what works for them.

Regarding the New Modern, my only concern is the amount of time I put into playing. It makes me question if it's worth me spending more money into gameplay if I don't play as much as I used to.

I miss the leagues. Gold league was my sweet spot regarding investment comfort level.

I still am on the fence if I will sell out of modern. If ever I do, the funds will most likely go into Land. I love the passive income aspect of it.

If time is a factor, than modern might not be the best choice. Even the bots are beating me up where I'm at, as they're max level, and my summoners gold :-D I do miss the leagues, too. Even knowing the arguments against leagues, it think it was just more fun and fairer with them. When I don't have time, I just have the bot do it all, though it makes a lot less in Wild then I make in Modern.

Regarding the experiment, I just checked, and I think Stone is not easy to rent for these days, as it's Fire, Dragon and Death. Harklaw is the cheapest at 5 DEC/day, so 205 DEC in the 41 days. Still, a little bit of profit, but at $20 a plot it would take 5 workers 1640 days to get the investment back in. And the cancelling of rent is a problem, creates uncertainty. I still prefer to buy and own :-D
