Misty Sunday hike on top of Šmohor, sLOVEnia

We've really been blessed this weekend with a wonderful sunny days without a cloud in the sky. I have been planning a long hike the whole past week and I had a few, even on an an amazing Sunday combined with good company, great local food and exploring the top of Šmohor.

Šmohor is not a real mountain, but it's too close, I know the route very well, it is 776m off the sea level, around 2 hours of great exercise, a ton of fresh oxygen along with some sweat & great old memories.

I woke up at around 7.30 am, made myself a cup of tea, gathered myself threw the year, baked some eggs from a local farm with some bread that my mother made. Packed my backpack with 2l of water and went to my Passat to warm it up and start the journey through the hills, through a tiny city called Laško and off the main road to park my car and get ready for an amazing start of the day.

We started on a misty day, an empty road, an empty hiking trail and a whole "bag" of positivity.

As we got higher and higher the fog started slowly clearing out and slowly started clearing up a wonderful blue sunny sky without a cloud. On the way up, I met an amazing, very friendly and really positive local where the trail goes through his property and has a ton of stories. A man who loved working, loved his wife, doesn't have the best health but never surrendered, continues doing what he loves and lives in peace and harmony with nature surrounding him.

Second time I talked to him and he always motivated me and gave me reasons to push myself and stick to positivity and the rest will follow.

Getting to the top fog cleared out and the rewards started to show with a stunning view all the way to the Alps.

On the top we decided to take a break, enjoy in the view, get some vitamin D off the sun and eat something warm to get us back to strength. After the waiting to get the order after few minutes it was an amazing feeling eating local food called Boranja. It was something warm to enjoy with a spoon a mix of veggies and meat and the dessert was another local best known as štrudl.

I didn't have time to take a photo because it's delicious, amazing and rewarding. But they are a local foods if you travel to Slovenia, I highly recommend trying them out, you won't regreat it!

After lounch we checked the top of Šmohor with a slow 30minute walk exploring and finding really old, huge Linden tree with a unique shape. There is also a church of St. Mohor on the top that was built in 14. century.

When the clock passed at at 1 pm it was time to start going back down. Took slightly longer route to be safe and without a slip on the wet terrain covered with leaves and small rocks. Slowly but surely we got back down to the car safe and sound, tryed our best to find a mushroom but found everything else but the edibles we know well. Maybe more luck next year. :)

It was a wonderful day, spent the rest of the day outside on the sun, taking a long walk along the River Savinja before packing up everything and going back home, where some housekeeping was waiting for me as every Sunday, regulary.

I've had an amazing Sunday and the whole weekend blessed with stunning views, amazing exercises my body was calling for, a ton of fresh oxygen and pockets full of positive vibrations to prepare for a great fresh week coming.
