Anthropic hat sein neues großes Sprachmodel Claude 2 veröffentlicht, aber in der EU geo-blockiert. Es ist im Moment nur in den USA und UK verfügbar.
Früher waren Websites und neue Internet-Produkte global verfügbar. Das Intenet war ursprünglich genauso wie Bitcoin borderless. Bitcoin-Transaktionen können auf der ganzen Welt durchgeführt werden, solange man eine Internet-Verbindung hat. Kein Land wird absichtlich blockiert. Öffentliche und offene Blockchains sind neutral.
Wegen der unterschiedlichen Gesetzlage und Regulierung verzögern Firmen aber zunehmend den Launch in der EU und schränken den Zugang künstlich ein. Manche machen die restriktive Regulierung in der EU dafür verantwortlich (GDPR, Digital Services Act, AI Act).
Auch die neuen AI-Produkte von Google und Twitter-ähnliche Instagram-App Threads wurde nicht in der EU gelauncht.
Claude 2 wäre ein interessantes LLM, da es eine ähnliche Performance wie GPT-4 verspricht und es geschafft hat, das Token-Limit auf unglaugliche 100K Tokens zu vergrößern. Damit könnte das LLM ganze Bücher lesen und in einer Session verarbeiten, ohne den Text vorher in Chunks aufteilen zu müssen.

Anthropic has released its new large language model Claude 2, but geo-blocked it in the EU. It's only available in the US and UK at the moment.
Previously, websites and new internet products were available globally. The Internet was originally borderless just like Bitcoin. Bitcoin transactions can be made all over the world as long as you have an internet connection. No country is intentionally blocked. Public and open blockchains are neutral.
However, due to differences in laws and regulation, companies are increasingly delaying launches in the EU and artificially restricting access. Some blame restrictive regulation in the EU (GDPR, Digital Services Act, AI Act).
Even Google's new AI products and Twitter-like Instagram app Threads was not launched in the EU.
Claude 2 would be an interesting LLM as it promises similar performance to GPT-4 and has managed to increase the token limit to unbelievable 100K tokens. This would allow the LLM to read entire books and process them in one session without having to split the text into chunks first.

Dass wir jetzt nicht mehr bei den ersten sind wenn es um neue Tech Apps geht, ist keine gute Entwicklung. Vor allem wenn es sich länger hinauszögert als 1-2 Wochen.
Das ist meiner Meinung nach eine besorgniserregende Entwicklung, das sind große Firmen, Big Tech, wie Meta oder Google, die das so handhaben. Das war früher nicht so. Wenn ihnen die EU wichtig wäre, würden sie die Produkte hier auch verfügbar machen bzw. nicht künstlich geo-blocken.
Ist Ihnen schon wichtig, aber nicht der Aufwand und ggf. die Strafen.
Ich kanns bei manchen Sachen verstehen, aber bei so vielen Sachen nicht.

i think it's a shame that new Internet products are being intentionally geo-blocked in the EU. The Internet was originally designed to be a borderless space, and it's disappointing to see companies restricting access to their products based on geography.
Politicians need to prove to their constituents that they are useful, which is why Parliaments make laws.
