What's up plebs?!

A couple days ago I shared a silver commemorative coin from Portugal and today we will be staying in the same country:

Let's have a closer look

As the text indicates, we have a 2004, 5 euro commemorative coin from Portugal. This side features the Portuguese coat of arms flanked by the Templar cross on the left and the Portuguese cross on the right.

In Portugal, the Templar Cross is closely linked to the Military Order of Christ, the successor to the Knights Templar. The order played an important role in Portugalโ€™s Age of Exploration, as Prince Henry the Navigator used its resources to fund maritime expeditions. Here's a link to Wikipedia if you would like to read more on them!

Now let's move on to the reverse side

I couldn't get a clean photo so here's one from numista to get a better idea of what you are looking at:

Here we have the Convent of Christ in Tomar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is
a historic monastery and fortress, originally built as the headquarters of the Knights Templar in the 12th century and later the home of the Order of Christ, the successor to the Templars in Portugal.

And that's the super quick run down of the historical significance behind the coin.

Silverwise, we have 14 grams of 0.500 purity, giving us exactly 7 g of pure silver

Oh, almost forgot! The edge is plain which is a bummer:

All in all, a beautiful coin with some nice history behind it! I guess it's a must have if you are into knights and shit ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Ok friends, this is it for today!

See you soon with more cool coins ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Nice coin! One more silver goodie to add to the stack. Those Templars were some serious badass dudes back in the day, but when you're rich everyone wants to take away your fortune. They learned that the hard way!

Mr TrumpMan, I have to say... Thatโ€™s a badass coin. The Templars really knew how to leave a legacy we got knights, secret orders and now, sick silver collectibles. History ends up in your pocket... Classic ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜
