10 Deutsche Mark (1995, William Conrad)
What's up plebs?
Back with another German silver mark, and this one is definitely one of my favorites. Let's see what we got this time:
Looks like we have an x-ray of a hand going on or something on the reverse 😅💀🩻🦴
Well... Guess what?!
Turns out this commemorative 10 mark from 1995 is actually dedicated to the 150th anniversary since the birth of William Conrad Röntgen and the 100th anniversary of the X-ray!
For those of you unfamiliar with the guy, he is the father of X-ray:
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (27 March 1845 – 10 February 1923) was a German mechanical engineer and physicist, who, on 8 November 1895, produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays or Röntgen rays, an achievement that earned him the inaugural Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901. In honour of Röntgen's accomplishments, in 2004 the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) named element 111, roentgenium, a radioactive element with multiple unstable isotopes, after him. The unit of measurement roentgen was also named after him. source and further reading
As always, the reverse features a unique imperial chicken design. Damn, those Germans love their chickens 🐥 🐔
The coin edge is engraved, which is a nice bonus to have on any coin!
It reads
ERSTER NOBELPREIS FÜR PHYSIK 1901
For
FIRST NOBEL PRIZE FOR PHYSICS 1901
A clear reference to the Nobel of Physics Röntgen won in 1901!
As for silver, this piece is 15.5 g of 0.625 purity. That's about 0.31 oz. Not bad for a standard circulation coin!
Ok plebs that's it for today!
See you soon with more silver!

Don't put a Jewish joke in there. The coin is like to use in zombie apocalypse to exchange the dead obviously female zombie 😏
I like the etched edge. The x-ray thing makes sense.
Yeah, engraved edges are always cooler!
I never seen such coin before, well in my country it's kinda different, but thanks for the new knowledge. They really look shinny wish I could get one of this. Hehe...from #dreemport
Amazing collection and the designs of these look very nice.
Glad you liked it fren!
for extra spiciness the coin should emit X rays, fun for the whole family :P
That's an awesome commemorative coin! Rontgen was a legendary in his founding our current state of Radiology. That's a cool one, they have produced some nice Marks over the years. Too bad they're more expensive on this side of the pond.
Again a very interesting images and looks like X-ray of hand.
That is pretty nice and I agree that the X-Ray is definitely something revolutionary.
X-rays... advances in technology that are so useful... in benefited a lot in xray technology!
Cool coin, @trumpman !
The X reminds me of the Roman Numeral for the number 10... Could it have once been called the 10-Ray...???
😂
Interesting piece, even if it is German. You love chicken….🤣

It was supposed to be excellent but with X for x ray but clarity I was too fried to execute properly 🤣
Typical...
Give the mechanical engineer an element with multiple unstable isotopes.
Although it's pretty dope... Discovering the x ray and having a coin for you...
Nice coin bruvv
I am ok with my mediocre life 😂
