Sierra Sid's Silver and Silver Pushes Back Towards $100!

Happy Monday everyone! Here in the US it's a federal holiday celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. so most government and bank workers have the day off. But most everyone else still has to work! If you have the day off make sure to enjoy it and make the most of it.

Today has been a very disappointing day in the world of crypto, every time things are looking up they are driven back down. Hive included sadly... But in the world of precious metals things are very exciting as silver pushes it's way up towards a historic level of one hundred dollars. I'll talk a bit more about that in a bit.

First I decided to share a Silver Strike token again today. These were silver tokens that could be won by playing the Silver Strike Slot Machines. Very few of the machines are still around so the tokens are becoming very collectible and expensive. I've picked up a lot over the years as they contain pure silver which I love! I've always preferred the items from defunct casinos but at times have picked up some others as part of package deals. Today's token came from one of those deals, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

This comes from a casino still in operation, but it's a tiny family business with no hotel or resort attached to it.

This token contains 0.6 Troy ounces of pure silver surrounded by a brass ring. The value of the metal is worth around $55, but the tokens themselves are collectible items that carry a much higher price. I've never been overly attached to this silver but it is interesting in that it comes from a strange casino and features a Confederate general.

Sierra Sid's Casino is located in Sparks, Nevada which is a suburb of Reno, Nevada. The casino itself is located at a truck stop and isn't very big featuring mainly slot machines. At some point they had the Silver Strike slots as they produced many of these silver tokens over the years. Interestingly, they are the only truck stop that offers craft beer. I'm not sure how good an idea that is, but no one asked me. They also have horrible ratings on travel sites, so it's a location I would avoid personally!

I'm not going to dive into General Robert E. Lee too much as today, he was a very controversial figure. He was an engineer in the US Army for 32 years before switching sided to the Confederates during the US Civil War and eventually leading the Virginia army. In the end they lost the war, however, he has been honored as a general around the country and military bases. Interestingly, in the last ten years there has been a push to remove anything related to the Confederates including Lee.

He was an enigma in regards to slavery. Although he owned slaves he felt it was an evil institution and planned to emancipate them upon his death. He even helped some former slaves make their way to Liberia. He felt the practice of slaving should be permanently ended at some point, but never provided any sort of timeline.

To all of us today the barbaric practice it viewed as evil by most, but sadly still exists. There are women trafficked as sex slaves and children forced to work in factories in horrible conditions even in our modern world. It would be nice to see all of these evils end, but I fear human greed will always drive the practice well into the future.

Silver

Silver is again the star of the show and making it's push towards $100. At the moment of writing it is sitting at $94.32, and looks likely to pierce through the one hundred dollar limit sometime this week. The precious metal is in such short supply that prices will continue to climb despite the best efforts of institutions to drive it back down. It's simple supply and demand, there isn't enough available for the needs of industry right now and that's a huge problem. It mean prices of electronics, cars, medical equipment, airplanes, solar panels, etc. will continue to go up in price.

Hard to believe it was less than $30 just one year ago! Silver is great place to invest, and if you don't yet it's not too late. Start with small amounts, there are even one gram bars out there! The key is to start and continue to buy regularly and slowly you will build up a nice silver stack.
