Where Did Santa Claus Originate?

The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed Nicholas was born sometime around A.D. 280 in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends. It is said that he gave away all of his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick.
The History of Father Christmas

The earliest evidence for a personified Christmas can be found in a 15th-century carol, in which a character called 'Sir Christëmas' shares the news of Christ's birth. He tells his audience to 'Make good cheer and be right merry.'
precurser to Father Christmas could be found in York, where a festival called the 'Yule Ridings' took place on the 21 December. A man disguised as Yule carried cakes and meat through the streets and threw nuts into the crowd. In 1572 the procession was banned after complaints of 'verie rude and barbarouse' behaviour.
Elsewhere in Tudor and Stuart times, specially appointed 'Lords of Misrule' oversaw Christmas celebrations in aristocratic houses, and were sometimes given names like ‘Captain Christmas’, ‘The Christmas Lord’ or ‘Prince Christmas’.
Christmas is celebrated by many. It's a time for family and friends to gather and have a time. Feasting on food and enjoying each others company. We here at the RentMoney blog would like to take this moment to wish all who celebrate such a very Merry Christmas. I hope Santa was good to you all and Krampus stayed away. I (like most other years) stayed awake trying to get a glimpse of Santa and possibly catch him with the intent to swipe his magical bag that is filled with goodies. At least that is what I tell all the little ones around me. I'm often met with something in the lines of "what about all the kids and their present's; you can't swipe them for yourself". Unfortunately as time goes on my ability to stay awake late enough to catch this crafty fellow becomes less likely. Santa escaped my clutches this year but only because the Sandman helped him. There's always next year. I have 365 days to plan next years heist. Since Santa has the Sandman on his side I might have to seek out help from Krampus or possibly the Grinch. For now I'll go enjoy some of these Christmas treats in front of me. All the best to everyone in the New year.
The History of Krampus
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus
The Krampus (German: [ˈkʁampʊs]) is a horned anthropomorphic figure who, in the Central and Eastern Alpine folkloric tradition, is said to accompany Saint Nicholas on visits to children during the night of 5 December (Krampusnacht; "Krampus Night"), immediately before the Feast of St. Nicholas on 6 December. In this tradition, Saint Nicholas rewards well-behaved children with small gifts, while Krampus punishes badly behaved ones with birch rods.[1][2]
The History of The Grinch
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grinch
The Grinch is a character created by children's author and cartoonist Dr. Seuss.[1] He is best known as the titular main protagonist of the 1957 children's book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Grinch is depicted as a green, furry, pot-bellied, pear-shaped, snub-nosed humanoid creature with a cat-like face and a cynical personality. In full-color adaptations, he is typically colored green. He has spent the past 53 years living in seclusion on a cliff overlooking the town of Whoville. [He wants to stop Christmas from coming].
