X-Strategy Chronicles: Journey to Monetization | Episode 5
I was away from X for a very long time, and then my growth there had to be on pause. I finally returned last week with the hope of continuing to pursue my previously established goals, and, just like I was doing before, I am sharing my progress and experience for this week.
You see, I started this chronicle for certain reasons. It started with a programme under InLeo where we are being incubated, so to speak, so we can grow individually as influencers in our respective fields of interest. That way, when we develop our fanbase and influence, we can effectively show people the light of InLeo and the Hive blockchain and bring them over with our influence.
Along the line, I learned about monetization on X. Akin to web2 platforms, there are certain criteria to meet before being eligible for such experience. It's not like that over here on Web 3, InLeo. You can monetize your content right from day zero.
Monetization on X
- Subscribe to Premium
- Have at least 5M impressions within the last 3 months
- 500 followers
I have only fulfilled the first one by subscribing, and this month's subscription will end in three days. I still haven't gotten 5 million impressions yet. And I don't have 500 followers yet.
The one that bugs me is that my follower count is quite slow. I know for sure that gaining followers isn't exactly easy in these times, especially if you aren't a celebrity, but it becomes a little concerning when the increase is rather small after such a long time of being on X and keeping some level of activity. I guess I have to learn better and put in a lot more henceforth for better results.
I try to share X posts as often as I can. One way to do that is to share about my posts here on Hive; that would increase my activity as well as promote the Hive blockchain and InLeo. And, even though that didn't feel effective enough for a long time, someone reached out to me last week about making their way to InLeo and needed guidance.
Onboarding on X
I was stoked to finally onboard someone on X. We have been going back and forth in the DMs about InLeo and the Hive blockchain.
I could read the person's curiosity about web3 and InLeo. In our conversations, I encourage them to ask questions, as I explained and responded to his inquiries. And after a while of conversing, he responded with this:
That's a positive response. And it tells me that we may very well have one more potentially active user here on the Hive blockchain. In some way, it encourages me to keep forging ahead with the plans, as there's definitely a light at the end of the tunnel in this journey.
Statistics and Strategy
One of the highlights of the week for me was my statistics in the last seven days. I hadn't been around for a while, so what I found after some days of activity was appealing to me.
Impressions are essentially views. The more people view your posts and comments, the more impressions you gain. This week, I had 237K views.
Most of the impressions I gain are from the comments I make. I cannot easily get enough traction on my posts with the level of fanbase I have now. So what I am doing now is piggybacking on big accounts.
Piggybacking Strategy
To piggyback big accounts is to simplify and leverage their level of exposure by being present around their content. So when someone like Elon Musk makes a tweet, he'll likely have a lot of eyes on that tweet in a very short time. And because most people would want to see what people are saying about whatever the tweet is about, leaving a comment on that tweet would consequentially gain you impressions.
The likelihood that people will enjoy your tweet, react to it, and have the algorithm push it a little further depends on two major things for me: timing and context.
You want to be there as quickly as the tweet made; that's it about timing. And for context, it just has to be relevant, contextual, and not breaking any rules—to simply put it. Unlike here, where it's web3, web2 platforms have account censorship, so one has to be careful with how they thread on places like X.
My impressive post on X was the one I made about the new AI model by OpenAI, Sora. I had 1,574 views on that post. I was surprised by how quickly I gained that, thought about it, and figured something out.

My guess is that X posts, especially long-form content about trending topics, tend to be pushed more by the algorithm. This is something I am going to try to experiment with this week. I will keep an eye on the trending feeds, see what's happening, and share posts about them if they are within the niches I am interested in.
Visibility Concerns
As I speak, I think I may be experiencing some level of visibility suppression for a comment I made a while ago. I used the words "slap" and "you" together. I only used a popular catchphrase I found funny, as it felt apt on the parent tweet.
Although X did not come at me for doing that, I feel like the algorithm may have thought to keep me under close watch and suppress my visibility. I may be wrong, though, but it's something to expect from web2 normally.
Optimism and Outlook
It's the beginning of a new week and another time to move again and make waves. I am optimistic about my growth there on X, but I try to keep my expectations reasonable and not get fazed by undesired outcomes. With consistency and perseverance, I know that I will be in a better place in a year. Until then, I better go prepare to renew my X subscription.

I've been following your series in secret and I've learnt some things about X. But first I want to increase impressions. Will focus on that during holiday
Nice to see your effortsed to someone being onboarded
That's encouraging, man. Thanks.
You're busy with exams and do your best to show up these days. The holidays it is, and we'll see you buzzing again.
It seems you are doing good in Twitter. I am totally inactive in Twitter. Seeing you, I am thinking to be active Twitter also because for promoting Hive Twitter can be a best possible option. I will try the thing after my exam means after June. Before that I will try to be mentally prepared.
I only started getting active on Twitter during the October Hive Zealy campaign. Ever since, I have been learning a lot about X.
You have a lot on your plates now, understandably. Whenever you come around, we can grow together. Thanks, man.
Hehe. wait for me. I will come for sure.
Okay, bro. I wish you all the best with your exams.
Hey, I wish you all the best on your X adventure.
Haha, I really hate this new name. As nice as the logo is, it really sounds like a name... erotic.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in achieving your goals. I'm not familiar with monetization on this platform. How much do you hope to earn? What would be your goals?
😅 It took me a while to get used to the new name, X. It's harder to say I made an "X post" rather than "tweet."
The numbers vary when it comes to earning. I have never seen it for myself, but I have heard of people eraning $2,000 in a month. Surely, they must have strong influences, and that's what I am working on.
My primary goal isn't to earn, actually. I mean, I want to, but I am more keen on my portfolio, influence, and connection, as well as my content being top-notch.
Haha, actually, I think it's best not to tell my parents about my "post X" activities. It would only lead to an awkward silence and a rather embarrassing moment.
Interestingly, since joining Hive, I've really devoted time to engaging with others, writing comments that go beyond the brief 10-word limit.
I've found that this approach makes a difference. My personal and financial development has reached new heights since becoming part of Hive. Every day is a learning experience that broadens my horizons with perspectives I'd never considered before.
It makes me think that this was the original purpose of traditional social media platforms like Facebook and others - to forge meaningful connections between diverse individuals. However, they haven't quite achieved their goal. Yet everyone aspires to sincerity and value.
That's why, while you're on X, my best advice for making rapid progress is this: make the effort to forge deep, personal connections with 5 to 10 people. Hold on to these relationships and let them be the foundation of your growth.
This is profound, man!
Yes, Hive gives a whole new perspective to interacting with people, and I am very glad that you saw that early.
I'll make sure to connect with people while I am at my goals, man. I hope you're having a great week.
I'm having a great week. Very busy with work and twists and turns, so it leaves me very little time to spend on Hive, which is a shame. But I'm alive and on the whole, things are going well in my life, so yes, I'm having a good week ^^.
I hope you are too!
you're doing great on X but fro monetization it's going to take a lot. 5 million impressions in a 3 months period is not easy but with consistent efforts it's possible
Getting monetized isn't going to be easy, really. I'll try to focus on growing my account more and try to be consistent at it.
Thank you, man!
