Trying to test out Meta's new Threads .. but failed. Why?

I will not try to hide it.

When I first heard of META's threads I immediately thought that Marc Sugar Mountain comes second! Leo Threads were here first!

But I think that they come out in the perfect timing, after the twitter limitations

(In case you did not know about that, Elon Musk made the following announcement on July 1st)

To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:

• Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
• Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
• New unverified accounts to 300/day

Let's see what those META Threads are and how they are different from the LeoFinance threads!

Before you continue, you should know that if you are located in Europe you probably will not have access to this app, because it only launched in 100 countries

What are Meta Threads?

Meta threads are short posts or updates that are up to 500 characters long. You can include links, photos or videos up to 5 minutes long. They are created by Meta's Instagram team and are linked to your Instagram account. You can sign in with your Instagram credentials and keep your usernames, followers and verification status¹². Threads is a platform that allows you to publish text-based conservation and potentially rival Twitter¹²³. You can choose who sees your Thread posts and the types of posts you want to see in your feeds¹. Threads is free to use and is available to download from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store¹.

I am using Firefox in this example, and I am already logged in my Instagram

.1. Visit https://www.threads.net/
.2. Allow or Deny cookies

.3. Be greeted by an interactive galaxy

.4. Nothing :)

No button, not anything. No message directing me to a link or to inform me about something.

Searching for more information, I found that the users can go to the Play store or IOS and search for Instagram Threads.

I tried to, but could not find it.

So I thought to check out .. did Thread launch in Greece?

And guess what!

Meta Threads is not available in Greece or in Europe yet. Probably due to unclear regulations regarding the ways users' data will be handled or communicated between apps.

At the moment you can test out the app only if you are in the 100 countries mentioned here including US, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan etc

Have you used the app?

Here's some extra info I could find about threads:

• They garnered 10 million + signups in a matter of hours
• Remember that they will share your Instagram audience
• You will probably not be able to delete it you change your mind; because you may need to delete your Instagram (I will have to check this)
• They are probably no dms in threads
• They are not leo-threads :)
