Creating a simple website for free

I discovered an app that can help you create your own website in a few easy steps!

How to create an account:

  1. Go to https://www.yola.com/

  2. Click Get Started to create an account

As a first step you are asked what kind of website you wish to create choosing your template gallery. We will go by blog and there are many options to choose from (blog, vlog, travel blog, blogger etc)

For this example, I will allow AI to create it for me.

Choosing a name and the language

Now I will have sometime to think of what to include as AI is preparing my website!

We will simply need to fill in some information for the rest to take place

A few minutes later and VOILA!

In just a few minute the app has created a one page site that includes most of the sections one needs for a quick presentation. As you understand, this can also be used as a live CV or anything else you can think of.

If you click on any spot, you can easily edit or even hide it.

The only issue that I found when I hit publish, is that it is not possible to add the domain (for instance it could be something like .. katerinaramm.yola.com or similar)

There are other ways to create free websites, like using the free version of canva check out this post and I am sure that there are many other applications online. (such as wix etc)

The difference that I found with this one is that you can really add whatever you want, and if you get one of the paid packages, you can really eliminate the web-designer and really do it all yourself.

Is this a good or a bad thing; This gives more power to the users, for sure - but this leaves the web designers with the need to enhance their services and for sure to think out of the box if they want to keep their job and grow their business.

Would you trust a platform to create and maintain one or a webmaster (company) to do it for you?

All in all, will AI make us more innovating or too bored to be creative?

Woah, the speed of setting up a site like this is pretty impressive. Good option for quick personal projects, but yeah, web designers definitely have to adapt to stay ahead in this

I will check it out and also its various reviews. Hostinger already provides AI website builder but this seems an interesting find too with a free plan.

i remember back in the days when one would use just blogspot or myspace 🤣 im not sure how many people still use wordpress

I could create the site, but then not publish it without paying. So the title is misleading. It isn´t for free.

Hi, I created the website and published it for free.
You can pay for extra services such as for your own domain, but you can well use it for free as is and make as many edits as you want.
I will check my post again to see if I am not clear about this..

I tried everything to publish free, then I gave up and deleted the tab, so no screenshot anymore. Anyway.

Again, I am sorry for that
I tried again using another email, and using a template (in my example I selected AI to generate my website)
I published it for free here> https://mcdihl-smoens-typoonds.yolasite.com/

The only thing I can think of is if you clicked on upgrade or tried to buy a domain.

In any case, it is a simple free option among many others (canva is also a good alternative).
