LET'S TALK ABOUT LEADERSHIP - WHAT IT SHOULD BE
Leadership is something that concerns every aspect of our lives, no matter how much we try, we can't do without it. No group exists without a leader, although there are cases when some small groups try to avoid being specific of a leader but then there is always going to be a leader in the end. Leading is never something that is easy especially if you have people that are not satisfied with you leading.
Leading comes with different challenges that if you are never ready to lead in the first place, you might have to give up on being a leader. Well, what is actually leadership? It's simple, it's simply a process of leading. As a leader, it means you will be at the forefront so you can lead very well. You might want to read that again...
So many times when we have leadership problems we come to see that most of our assumed leaders never really leads, the term managers suits them best. Starting from the smallest unit which is family, the father is mostly the leader except in cases where he is no more. As a father or a mother, your children look up to you to lead them right and that means you have to set the pace for them. Just as a father or mother wants the best for his or her children, so a leader ought to want the best for his or her followers.
In the world we live today, so many leaders crave for obedient followers but then they never lead, all they do is give directions from behind. Everyone can be a leader but not everyone knows the right path. Following a leader that does not know the right path means there will be no arrival. So if you are a leader or you ever want to be a leader, then you need to ask yourself a few questions. Like...
Am I ready to take the first step?
Am I willing to take responsibility for whatever happens?
Can I manage the criticism?
Giving answers to these questions will help you know if truly you are a true leader or if truly you can be a good leader.
In the business world, it's hard to truly find a leader because the fact that the owner of the business pays his or her worker, he or she most times no longer cares to lead the way, all they do is give directions from the top. It's possible to lead from the top but that is only when you have lead by example first and you are sure someone else knows the path to go. As a leader, your aim is to make leaders just like yourself so your work can be easy.
Like I mentioned when I started, there is leadership in every sphere of life but it's just sad that we have more managers and few leaders and I keep hoping that would change because the more it continues, the more we will lose the few leaders we have. I think in the aspect of leadership, I do love what the inleo community is doing. We have a true leader who truly leads by example and it is so evident in the community's performance. Now I can't count how many leader figures we have in that community.
I do aspire to be a leader and I'm taking my time to chose the right people that I can learn from. I believe we all know what is right and wrong, so we just decide to make a choice which can be either good or bad. When I see true leaders, I just keep reminding myself of what true leadership should be even though most times it's just easier to be a manager.

There is no need taking away anything from all that has been said in this post of yours my dear, a leader must be responsible for his followers till the end and just as you have stated up above, there will wavering moments which might make one to give up leading half way but that is just the process of it all, there is nothing successful in this life that doesn’t have its own share of challenges and problems, we just need to keep going no matter how hard it gets because there is surely a light at the end of that tunnel, hmmm I felt the emotions in the last paragraphs and I could relate to the fact that we have less leaders and more managers, I also hope that changes one day and a good example of a leader is the INLEO community, both its leaders and its followers are actively working and upright, welldone my dear, I enjoyed and learnt from you today…

You're taking the right step to being a leader yourself and that is learning from the right people, I can say the same for myself.
I read somewhere that leaders are to serve, not necessarily leading in front but making sure the followers are walking on the right path. What would you say about that?
I think it is putting oneself in the shoes of a follower to lead better.
Of course when you serve that is you leading at the front, it doesn't mean you must be in the front but you will be the one your followers are taking the lead from.
Instead of showing directions, you are the direction, something like that. I hope I was able to clear that point 🙈

Not everyone has the leadership skill but it can be learned. Just like you aspire to be a leader and you are already learning from the right people that are doing well in their leadership,that's a great way to go. Indeed, we have less leaders and more managers today,and that's because,most of the leaders do not lead their followers rigthly, they just give instructions from the top without getting involved in the process to see that things flow in the direction they desire. Remember, leaders are to server as well,it comes with many responsibilities. However, I wouldn't forget also that no one can be a perfect leader, but like the Leo finance team you mentioned, they have exhibited true leadership by their actions and that's commendable.
You are absolutely right, by leading I'm also referring to serving of course, how do you lead without serving? I believe it goes hand in hand. @merit.ahama also said something like that, I guess I should have stated it clearly.

Leadership is about service, really, and your insights are spot-on, Hope. I think that it is about choosing to contribute in any little way. And, for real, one doesn't need to be at the forefront to truly lead. In the matters concerning other people, any action that takes the team or group forward—even a tad bit—counts as leadership. Also, it takes certain qualities and virtues to be considered a leader, such as being teachable, humility, compassion, and passion, among others.

Definitely, as leader you can't always be at the forefront if you are truly a leader. If you read towards the end of my write up you will notice I said something about leaders making leaders. The only way you can make leaders is by leading well and others will want to be like you.

True, people are managers than leaders... Leaders should lead by example but yet they can delegate task to followers also. As a leader there should be a medium to follow up after a task is generated so not to feel left out.
That's right but that is only possible of you have lead well. Like I mentioned, a true leader can be defined by the number of leaders he or she has produced.
You have said it right. Anyone can land on the manging seat but the leaders need to have certain traits.
A leader is the one who rules the heart. For being a leader it is important to lead by examples as action speaks louder than words

Some years back, I washed off my hand from anything called leadership especially when it comes to "sacrificial and no pay". E.g. church.
The burden was just too heavy and the people I was loving were shooting arrows. Krazy,😄
Lol, no matter how you try to run from it you will still face it at some point in your life. You just have to keep learning how to be a good follower then 😊
It all comes down to the act of hypocrisy, most people find it difficult to do what they preach. Leading by example means you have to duly follow the instructions and rules you have laid down before telling others to adhere to it but that is not the case nowadays. Our so called leaders are the ones who would be the first to find ways to cut corners around the law and then punish the followers for not obeying the law.
A leader who does not know the right path can't be called a leader, a leader is not born, it is made. For someone to be called a leader such person must have spend time investing in his/herself by going through process of self discipline to be worthy of people's respect.
Being a leader is not about being the most knowledgeable or the richest but ability for a person to make split seconds right decisions, ability for a person to put others need before his/her own, being selfless e.t.c
The reason why we have a decayed society is because a lot of people claimed the position of leadership because they have the power to, without actually earning that position based on their ability or character as a person.
True leaders are not desperate for the position of leadership, they are chosen by other people to lead, they dont crave power or money but justice.
