In the Spotlight
Hype Is Growing For Splinterlands
This week, the highly expected new set Conclave Arcana has been announced.
Coming after what many considered a failed set because it was overprinted (Chaos Legion), and Rebellion which is one of the smaller sets which has held its value very well, Conclave Arcana is unique through a couple of updates (besides new abilities). From keeping what worked well for Rebellion (like the daily burns if sales are below a threshold, using the new Conflicts game mode for airdrops - updated to include a cost to convert wagons and maintenance cost after each conflict), to offering different types of packs for sale that can better cater to different types of investors and their focuses.
Conclave Arcana also includes 3 new foils besides the standard gold and regular. They are:
- black foil (max-level cards)
- gold foil arcane (max-level, collectible numbering)
- black foil arcane (max-level, collectible numbering)
Black foils also have a number of extra benefits, besides looking great.
The presale starts on April 22nd and will last until May 11th. General sale starts immediately afterwards.
10% of each pack's total supply will be allocated to the presale. Anything remaining at the end will be burned when the general sale starts.
By participanting in the presale, players will have a chance to win two limited promo cards, compete for leaderboard prizes or earn tickets for the raffle with more prizes (also very impressive) at every 1,000 DEC or credits spent.
I've seen quite a lot of hype around this and all the changes Splinterlands has made this year. It is very likely the presale will be sold out relatively quickly despite quite massive amounts of DEC needed to buy all the packs.
If I haven't messed up some simple calculations and I read correctly what's displayed on the Splinterlands website, there are 2.4bn DEC circulating and 4.4bn DEC needed to sell out the presale. So an additional 2bn DEC would be needed only for the presale, which can only come from burning SPS or as LP rewards from land, as far as I know, at this point. That should put an immense buying and burning pressure on SPS in the next period, by all probabilities.
I've seen some staggering AI-generated predictions for the price of SPS at the end of the presale, but I think they are quite blown out of proportions. But I am pretty sure SPS will go up leading to and maybe during the presale! No financial advice...
Also note that from what I know the marketing campaign starts with the general sale, so after the presale... Check out the Town Hall from yesterday. I haven't had time to listen to it.
Also, here is the full list of updates from this week. Note how they are fine-tuning every little detail and tying up any loose ends. Great work, Splinterlands team!

Jose Cuisine, an influencer with 330k TikTok followers and 204k Instagram followers launched his social shopping site on Waivio!
Another Impressive Milestone Surpassed on Reddit
3 million views for Hive posts in a week from Reddit! The post shows an entire progression starting from October last year till now.
Voting For Hive Dapps Continues
Last week, @coldbeetrootsoup organized a call to action for voting Splinterlands on TheDappsList. Voting went really well, as the target was to reach at least 50 votes, to become visible in the list without specifically searching for it, and Splinterlands had at one point close to 150.
This week is the turn of Hive Keychain to do the same.
Note that this simple thing of voting for your favorite dapp (most likely), will give you a nice reward at the payout of the call to action post, if you comment with a screenshot of your vote, mainly.
Hive @ Talent Land
Hive will be a sponsor at Talent Land 2025, Guadalajara, Mexico, which will take place between April 21st - 24th. We will have a presence and a conference on the main stage.
Vienna Hive Meetup Coming
This week we also had the announcement of a Vienna Hive meetup to take place in the evening of April 24th.
Feedback Is Gathered for Hive Creator Days
Hive Creator Days will be held in Graz, Austria, between May 1st and 3rd. In their post from this week, organizers presented the tentative schedule and asked for feedback.
Detlev and WorldMapPin at Deep Web3 Secrets
If you don't know about WorldMapPin (or its predecessor, PinMapple), or about other projects of @detlev - including off-chain - this is a good podcast to learn from.

Hive Core Development Meeting
Seems like a lot has been discussed. It was an hour-long meeting too. I admit I kind of listened to the recording last night while doing something else too, which didn't help at all, because not much stocked in my brain after that. The AI-generated summary helps a bit, but if you want to really understand what was discussed, you need to listen to that discussion, or ask the AI clarifying questions. For example, I don't remember and didn't understand from the summary what is the context in which Metamask was discussed. Seems to be a separate project, somehow connected to Hive... Sorry, I'm not very helpful this week.
Hive Block Explorer Updates
@mcfarhat published another development update for Hive Block Explorer. I need to use it more in "real" use cases to see how useful it is compared to the old one, and maybe what can be improved.
HBD Supply Chart added to HBDStats
@dalz added a HBD supply chart to HBDStats, as well as made some visual enhancements.
Who Didn't Vote? Engagement on Hive.
@slobberchops created a possibly useful tool I tried out a few times out of curiosity... What the tool does, is it checks your last post to see who commented but didn't vote on your post. Of course, people are entirely free to do what they want, but it is funny that if someone checks, it is usually those who drop by a rather spammy comment only for the desired vote that don't vote themselves...
Myself, I rarely comment without voting, even if I disagree with the author. If that happens, it is almost certain that the post is older than 24h. The reverse happens quite frequently, as I don't have time to comment as much as I manually vote...
Speaking of comments, here's an interesting post about engagement on Hive.
Logging in to Wordpress via Hive Keychain
We had before a WP plugin for Hive. @diggndeeper.com is trying to recreate something similar with his WP-DApp plugin.
But @thelogicaldude created something that at least to me at first impression seems different, because it is, at least now, focused on one specific aspect: to add the "login via Hive Keychain" option for Wordpress. If the WP username corresponding to the Hive username doesn't exist, it will create one. He added it to his website, to see it in action.
Web3 Switcher
@eddiespino created a simple browser extension that allows a curator to quickly switch between the main Hive front ends. Could be useful if one prefers to do different actions with different front ends. Eddie mentioned commenting with Ecency to earn points... Hmm, I haven't thought of that! I don't earn anything different by commenting on PeakD...
BidBots Redivivus
The discussion about bitbots restarted on Hive recently. As someone who didn't use bitbots on the previous chain when they were "en vogue", and am not searching for such services now, I understand why they are frowned upon on Hive. I also understand the need for more options (better platforms/tools) to better cater to people mainly interested in the financial aspect. That is... if we want more users (who won't necessarily be content creators or curators).

WOO Successfully Launched and Sold Out WOO Bags
WOO launched and very quickly sold out its WOO Bags containing various NFTs. The WOO Bags could have been purchased with WOO tokens only.
Splinterlands-Related
@beaker007 created a very interesting statistical tool for land, which seems to be continuously improved, as he added new things since last time I checked.
Week in the Crypto World
Strategy May Need to Sell Bitcoin If Price Doesn't Go Up
Would you have thought that? Now really... When you borrow money two things need to happen in order for a company to stay solvent...
- Pay back debt and interest in due time or (partially) roll it over to a later date, if the company can take more debt
- In the long term, make more money than it pays out to its creditors
If the company neither makes more money than it pays out nor it can borrow more at advantageous terms, it is in BIG trouble...
So... where does Strategy stand?

I get hopeful when some influencer joins up, but we've seen so many not stick around. They need to be made welcome.
Funny, I just looked at his account's history... I don't know what the deal was, but he was greeted with downvotes from day 1 on Hive. It's been around for half a year or so.
What a welcome
Yeah...
Great roundup, Adrian! The Splinterlands hype is real, and those new foils sound awesome. Can't wait to see how the presale goes. Also, kudos to Waivio for landing Jose Cuisine—big win for Hive! Keep up the fantastic work on these weekly insights. 🌟🚀
Thanks! I will. 😃
It certainly looks so. We do need some hype around here, that's sure, lol!
Seems like it's not really a new account, but they promoted it in their announcement, and I didn't dig deeper. Nonetheless, influence is influence. What you do with it is important too...
As always this post is a interesting and useful window on the week on Hive

Thank you! Doing my best to keep track of as many news from Hive as possible and make a relevant selection.
Cool to see someone else is working on tools as well. Mine are broken up into different pieces so people can choose what aspect of the blockchain to tie into for their Wordpress sites instead of just having one big heavy plugin.
Perhaps it's better this way. I know from experience from having a WP blog years ago that blog owners often want to squeeze the last ounce of performance for their blog. Breaking this up into different plugins, can make them lighter, and people can choose what to integrate and what not.
That was exactly my thought. Someone may not even want to integrate the blogging aspect of Hive. Like the next plugin is a HBD payment plugin for Woocommerce for someone to build a store. I am also working on donation and tipping plugins too.
Very good next choices!
The WOO bags is very nice and it was very popular
I actually like the way they’re trying different things with the presale. Also, 3 million Reddit views for Hive posts is a huge breakthrough for the platform, hope to see more views
So do I! I'm just listening to the Town Hall now. I forgot to mention blood lines in my post, this is another news with the new set that will be very cool!
It is indeed a high number of views weekly already. Quite impressive!
Web3 switcher is gonna be useful if you want to earn ecency points but you like to format stuff on peakd
I agree. I started commenting from Ecency a bit, but I still prefer PeakD for that. But I will alternate them.
The new set being released is interesting for Splinterlands, but sometimes I wished it came out later. The new set means that modern is changing, and I will have to set aside some funds to buy some cards when it gets released.
Yes, it true, Chaos Legion drops out of Modern, which will change that format quite a bit. I imagine Wild will change significantly too, since some Modern players will migrate to Wild or Survival until they get ready for Modern again.

Another weekend of great reading and learning. Thanks Adrian
Let me graph my pop corn
Thanks! Appreciate it!
I'd like to ask you a question: don't you think conclave should have been released around September or even October, when the lay man could easily afford it?
To be honest, no, even though I'm in the same category of "not affording it". Splinterlands needs to sell as much of the packs during the bull market as possible. If they launched in September or October, what would they have caught? A month or two? We know not many people plan ahead and they'll be caught off-guard by the coming bear market with only volatile assets, again. We can still buy in September or October, but not the presale.
