Hive Citizenship
Hi fellow Lions,
Today I wanted to chat a little bit about the great feeling of seeing some deeper Hive stats!
Hive Citizenship
There was something that went around weeks ago, and it sadly took me a while to get it into a post but it was in my drafts! Lol.
I recently got a glance at some of the deeper stats of my account when it comes to the rewards that I've distributed and the overall amount of Hive that I've kept on the layer 1 ecosystem here!
I was really excited to see that I've kept 65% of the rewards that I've received, with what seems like either curation or author rewards, attached to my account! I know some would say that it's foolish to do that, you need to diversify things and go for other types of rewards. For me though, with the Hive ecosystem, I am trying to keep as much of it as I can within the ecosystem, and certainly a considerable amount of that on the layer 1 of Hive as either liquid Hive, HBD or Hive Power. For the most part most of it ends up as Hive Power for me anyways, but it's good to see this portrayed in some SQL analytics from a member!
I am definitely a data nerd and enjoy a good set of data that's for sure. For me, these numbers were pretty cool in that it went a step further and let me know what my distribution of Hive Power was via my voting! To think that I've distributed 2,500 Hive Power through my votes when my votes until pretty recently, weren't even really worth that much! Lol.
An interesting aspect of it as well is that it also shows the amount of Hive Power that I've distributed to folks via my votes, and how much of that remains as Hive Power and kept or if it was powered down and sent or sold off somewhere. My percentage of retainment is a little over 50% which is pretty cool but I have some good thoughts about that number. With Hive, there is a great opportunity to be able to distribute votes and financial rewards to people who are living in regions of the world that are quite threatened from a fiat currency perspective. With Hive though, we certainly can change that pretty well!
This notion to help others on Hive in different ways, some financial and others like comments, engagement etc. is what I consider, and others like Task have previously commented about, important for being a Hive Citizen. Combine this distribution with being able to keep most of the assets that I am earning here on the chain as powered up on the layer 1 of the chain and I think this is what could do well to build upon for many others.
I know everyone's financial situation is different and there are sadly a number of bad actors out there who just rob the chain of rewards and siphon it off to the exchanges but there are a considerable amount of us that are doing what we can to earn the rewards that we all appreciate here on the chain and keep those rewards powered up, on layer 1 and working to spread things out on the ecosystem. I would consider anything above 50% of rewards retained as Hive Power to be a pretty solid goal that many folks can accomplish. It certainly goes back to the financial situation. We have a few people on here that are full time Hive Citizens and primarily live off it! That's incredible to me, because I am excited to be able to make some, however small, positive financial impact for people throughout the world is one of the coolest things to be involved in. A lot of people do it for greed and I can understand that, but for me I love to keep stacking those rewards and send out better and better votes to people across the whole ecosystem.
It's for sure cool to see some of these deeper stats and I'm hoping one day in the near future I will be able to successfully connect my laptop to Hive SQL so that I can formulate and run my own queries like this so I can nose around. I made some progress on it a few weeks ago but then things went sideways as I got sick for a few days and haven't been able to get back to it since. I'm definitely going to carve out some time this weekend to get things rolling. This has given me a little bit of motivation!

That's great. I'm slowly building up as well. I try to upvote everyday and I also like to stack the ol HP..
That's great! Keep stacking the HP and reinvesting in the platform and things should do well for you I think. It’s not a really easy process but when you start earning curation rewards being on here and doing that consistently, it adds up nicely!
Thanks for stopping by!
Dude, that’s rad! Also rad is the fact that you’re able to pull up stats like this…is this just from the block explorer?
Thanks dude! No if you look at the screenshot the account I got it from is named there. Merlin something. They are nice enough, maybe drop by their post and see if they can help you with those stats for yourself. Would be cool to see!
I'm hoping to one day be able to figure out how to offer queries like this from my own connection to hive SQL. Hoping to get that connection squared away this weekend if all goes well!
Damn, that sounds like some cool stuff I’d get into! So SQL is somehow capable of interfacing with the blockchain…I’ll have to learn more about this. I’m guessing this is the basis for all the curation trails and various bots and automations we see here then?
I don't know if it's everything but it certainly makes it easier! There's a lot of programming that goes on with the things like hive.vote so I don’t know how their service works but a lot of groups rely on hive SQL for sure.
I’m going about it the harder way though, kind of. I’m trying to connect to it with Python programming language which is possible but harder. The easier way to do it is to connect with Microsoft SQL management studio which I use for work but I don’t want to pay for it to use it for personal stuff lol. I’m not sure if there is a free version but I thought there wasn’t.

Here are some handy links for delegations: 100HP, 250HP, 500HP, 1000HP.

Thanks, appreciate it!
All these flowers looks so beautiful and amazing. Whatever natural things happen, the mood of a person changes completely after seeing them, just like how the mood of a person changes after seeing these plants. My effort is also that I have so much HP and I earn it by working hard, but now the situation in Pakistan is bad, that's why I have to sell it. As soon as I find a good job And will start collecting HP again.
I love the flowers as well and find it fun to add some random photographs from my journey to my posts even if they have nothing to do with it lol.
Yeah it's a challenge when the financial economy is in such poor shape. I heard Pakistan was trying to ban crypto though, hopefully that doesn't negatively impact you! Seems foolish lol
Our governments still do not understand its importance
It really does make me very sad and angry to see so many people come on Hive treating it as if it was their ATM. Sure, it's their rewards and they can do whatever they want with it, but their lack of long term view and contribution, and their claim "Hive rewards help me pass this difficult stage of life" just doesn't make sense to me.
Sure I'm amongst the fortunate handful who don't have to rely on Hive for their livelihood. But to those newbies who start to power down and withdraw within a few months of joining, take a step back and think, if there was no Hive, what would you do? I'm sure you'd find an alternative solution.
Hive is a growing eco system and it can only grow when everyone contributes. I know not everyone can contribute financially with fiat investment, but at least they can contribute their time and effort rather than just come and take and wring every last drop out if Hive
Yeah I think a lot of it goes back to the mindset of people. We aren't taught to save anything these days and only to spend and extract everything possible. I think that likely has to do with influencing people to being poor users of the system and end up extracting it instead of building and growing.
I think the Lambo mindset of those ridiculous flashy people also has something to do with it as well. People are constantly looking for the get rich quick crap instead of a real building opportunity. Their loss though, because the value would be so much more if they held. Don't mind letting the door hit them on the ass on the way out.
