Hidden potential.

Remembering my childhood and youth, those moments when I helped my parents in the garden, I realize I didn't see any potential in those mountains of weeds and fallen leaves I carried out in bags to the dump.

At that time, it was believed that tree leaves and even the tops of garden crops could be sources of plant diseases and should be removed, burned, or otherwise disposed of.

But today, I would look at it differently. All that plant waste, besides being a source of nutritious compost for plants, could also become a substrate for growing mushrooms, such as oyster mushrooms.

Essentially, it's the same thing: collect the mushrooms in bags, but don't throw them away. Instead, boil them in a lime-water simmering vessel, let them cool, and inoculate this substrate with mushroom mycelium.

The mushroom yield over three flushes can be around 15-30% of the substrate's weight, meaning that seemingly useless leaves can be transformed into a valuable product if you see their potential.
