Movie Review: Running Point

I will be straightforward with you all, the only reason I clicked on this movie out of the list of movies Netflix was recommending is that it had a mixture of basketball and comedy. When you click on a movie or series, you are given a short description about the movie, and the subheader for this movie says comedy, and it has something to do with sports. What I did not see coming was how much I would enjoy the movie because of the character humor and the brilliant performance from the cast that played the Gordon family members.

The series is centered on a woman who takes over her family's struggling franchise basketball team. The lady who was played by Kate Hudson has always been underestimated, starting when she was a kid, and her father's role for her was to sit back and look pretty, as my adorable baby girl you are. Her interest in basketball and a good understanding of the game, with new ideas for the team, were written off. Well, this is already a huge avenue with lots of comics to exploit. When it comes to Isla, the main character of the story, her world underwent a huge change even after all her lashing out in her younger age to gain attention and get her purpose, starting with being on the cover of Playboy magazine, down to different drugs and poor actions.

It became a new challenge for her after her elder brother, who has a drug problem, decided to go into rehab for his addiction. He made her CEO of the company, and this brought in a new wave of drama for the other brothers. Yeah, you should get the drift now that their family is one big dysfunctional family with wealth and fame. The remaining brothers even tried to pull a vote of no confidence in order to get Isla out of the CEO chair after she sent the message across to them that she would not be a CEO who sits back to do only what she is told, like a dummy. The stunt to pull her out of the CEO chair failed woefully when she brought in new capital into the business through her move of making Sephora the lead sponsor.

The series played the part of being comedy with its fast jokes, especially basketball-related jokes, making it easy for the fans to relate. It is something that is easy to watch, and you do not have to be so serious about it. You could take a chill position, relax, and just sit back while the movie plays. Kate Hudson playing Isla Gordon is not the only person who did a good job; Fabrizio Guido was fantastic as well. He was a supportive character that I always looked forward to seeing in another scene because of how innocently funny he is. You know, one of those people who are not trying to make you laugh, but in the end, you still laugh, and when you see them as a funny character, no matter what they do, you just see it as funny and laugh. It was a pretty good laugh for me, and I truly admire movies like this, especially when I was not expecting too much. I just wanted to know how the series was going to combine basketball and comedy, and as a fan of basketball, I felt obligated to watch. Go check it out if you have not seen it.

HIVE coin is currently at a critically low liquidity. It is strongly suggested to withdraw your funds while you still can.
Don't seem to be a good mix... That woman having a basketball team it's a little strange to image happening in real life.
The rating is really minus -7,9? lol
No I didn't mean a minus. It's a dashhhh
muy buena reseña, excelente post
very good review, excellent post
It must have been that bad to give it a negative rating (-7.9/10). LOL
Offside, I'm not a big fan of modern comedy films, and even less so of this type. I prefer the classic ones from the 90s and 2000s with actors like Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler or Eddie Murphy and so on. Mind you, I'm not saying I don't like comedy films with actresses as protagonists, since I also have my favorites.
Anyway, good recommendation.
Oh no I meant (-) not as negative.
It's a good movie . It's 7.9/10
Hehehe, I figured that. Just kidding. LOL
comedy + basketball = instant click
I have this observation about Netflix movies and series most of it are about women empowerment just like this one . The women is the one who were logical and the men were emotional . But yeah if I was someone who wants just to enjoy my time comedy is what I will watch . I think I will watch this especially I just paid my Netflix subscription .
