¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi opinión acerca de una película que estaba ansiosa por ver, ya que se trata de una adaptación de un libro que leí hace poco. Les estoy hablando de Gente que conocemos en vacaciones.

Hello, friends! Today I'm stopping by to share my opinion about a movie I was eager to see, since it's an adaptation of a book I read recently. I'm talking about People We Meet on Vacation.

La historia gira en torno a Poppy y Alex, dos mejores amigos que no tienen nada en común, pero los une las vacaciones. Se conocieron en la universidad y ambos vienen del mismo pueblo, así que volvieron juntos en el verano y ahí nació una amistad dispareja. Ellos se prometieron pasar una semana juntos de vacaciones cada verano y así estuvieron por 10 años. Hasta que hace 2 años algo cambió y su amistad se vio afectada, pero Poppy no está dispuesta a renunciar a Alex y arma un último viaje para intentar recomponer la situación.

The story revolves around Poppy and Alex, two best friends who have nothing in common, but are united by their vacations. They met at university and both come from the same town, so they returned together in the summer and an unlikely friendship was born. They promised to spend a week together on vacation every summer, and they did so for 10 years. Until two years ago, when something changed and their friendship was affected, but Poppy is not willing to give up on Alex and plans one last trip to try to fix the situation.

Es una comedia romántica de esas divertidas y con una historia bonita sobre dos amigos que comienzan a desarrollar sentimientos románticos pero no están dispuestos a arruinar la amistad. A mí me gustó bastante, por lo general no es el trope que más me guste, pero siento que estuvo bien realizado, no se sintió nada forzado y me gustó que tomara la forma del libro en narrar el presente y lo que fue sucediendo en cada verano hasta llegar a lo que sucedió hace 2 años que los alejó.

It's one of those funny romantic comedies with a sweet story about two friends who start to develop romantic feelings but aren't willing to ruin their friendship. I liked it quite a bit. It's not usually my favorite trope, but I feel like it was well done, it didn't feel forced at all, and I liked that it took the form of the book in narrating the present and what happened each summer until what happened two years ago that drove them apart.

La verdad es que la química entre los dos actores también estuvo muy bien, me gustaron ambos, pero Emily definitivamente nació para el papel de Poppy, lo hizo increíble. Y en cuanto a Alex, creo que tenía la esencia, pero no lo suficiente. Para que tengan una idea, yo defino a Alex como un Conrad Fisher treintañero y no creo que se haya lucido tanto. Igual no me quejo, amé a los dos actores y la historia estuvo muy bien planteada, aunque con ligeros cambios que no me molestaron para nada.

The truth is that the chemistry between the two actors was also very good. I liked both of them, but Emily was definitely born to play Poppy; she was incredible. As for Alex, I think he had the essence, but not quite enough. To give you an idea, I would describe Alex as a thirty-something Conrad Fisher, and I don't think he stood out that much. Still, I'm not complaining. I loved both actors, and the story was very well thought out, although there were some slight changes that didn't bother me at all.

Es un friends to lovers que me hace desear tener uno y eso que no me gusta tanto la idea jajaja. La trama estuvo muy divertida, me hizo reír bastante y el romance 10/10, por si se lo preguntaban. No estoy siendo muy objetiva. Lo que me gustó de este tipo de historias es lo que cuenta, el título cobra sentido al final y ahí lo entiendes todo. Lo que hace especiales a las vacaciones no es tanto los lugares que visitamos sino las personas que conozcamos en el camino y que el hogar puede ser cualquier lugar, mientras se tenga a la persona que se ama. Es muy cliché, pero funciona muy bien en este caso.

It's a friends-to-lovers story that makes me want to have one, even though I don't really like the idea, ha ha ha. The plot was really funny, it made me laugh a lot, and the romance was 10/10, in case you were wondering. I'm not being very objective. What I liked about this type of story is what it tells you. The title makes sense at the end, and that's when you understand everything. What makes vacations special isn't so much the places we visit but the people we meet along the way and the fact that home can be anywhere, as long as you have the person you love. It's very cliché, but it works very well in this case.

Así que si no viste la película todavía, y queres ver algo ligero, divertido y romántico, la super recomiendo. Ya saben que siempre disfruto de una buena romcom y siento que esta cumplió bastante bien lo prometido. No es perfecta, pero es entretenida y les garantiza un buen rato. La encuentran en Netflix.

So if you haven't seen the movie yet, and you want to watch something lighthearted, fun, and romantic, I highly recommend it. You know I always enjoy a good romcom, and I feel like this one delivered pretty well. It's not perfect, but it's entertaining and guarantees a good time. You can find it on Netflix.
