Sick Days and Sleepless Nights: My Recent Motherhood Experience

It's been an unusual week for me so far as a mom. It's my first time experiencing having my three kids fall sick at the same time. Of course sickness is a natural thing we experience from time to time, but it's more energy-draining when it has to do with dealing with three kids at a time. I had to buckle up and know that motherhood duties cut across health too; it's my job to see that the kids get their well-being back, so I didn't complain even with the stress.

It wasn't just the kind of sickness they could manage and go to school with; no, we have been going back and forth to the hospital , receiving treatment back to back, so apparently, they haven't been to school since this week.

There is something I usually do to prevent this sudden sickness, but I think I became a bit lazy to do needed, and the sickness struck with full force, shutting down their academic activities, including their favorite hobbies, and making them feel so weak all this while. I feel terrible as a mom. I feel that I haven't done my work excellently well, but in all, it's a lesson .

So what I usually do is take them for general body checks in the hospital at intervals and run some basic laboratory tests to see that all is fine OR not with their body system. Sometimes , the diagnostic tests pick up hidden sickness, and I get it treated immediately before it escalates, and it saves me stress and is less expensive and also saves the kids unnecessary stress from serious sickness. That's the power of early detection, but I haven't done that since January, aside from my first son, who is the only one whose own illness this time isn't too severe, like his younger siblings.

My night's sleep has been constantly interrupted over the course of this sickness. In the middle of the night was when they usually ran a high temperature despite the injections, and I had to be up and be damping them a little bit with cold water with a towel to calm their body temperature. I was totally scared of such a high fever and prayed it wouldn't lead to children's convulsions.I made sure to implement all the advice from doctors and nurses to see that they recover fast. Their school has been calling over their absence from school, and I really appreciate such concern.

Currently , they are much better today, and hopefully , they will resume school by tomorrow. On the other hand, I have been totally down due to the stress, and I don't hesitate to rest a little whenever I see a little opportunity to do so. This is about breaking down completely so I can be there for my kids. Hopefully they keep getting stronger .

How has your experience been with sick children as a mom? Personally, I felt I should bear the sickness on their behalf , lol., take the injections on their behalf, and just take up the stress myself...if wishes were indeed horses. Lol, watching them pass through those pains was emotional, but at the end, it's all for good.

My Heart With You
It’s an extremely difficult experience when all the children get sick at the same time.

This is actually a lot for one person to handle.
Indeed motherhood isn't just a walk in the park it is pure work.
Wishing them speedy recovery

It is not easy to deal with children when they get sick, it is very exhausting physically and emotionally. All of us mothers go through that, they are nights with great sleeplessness and anguish. I hope your children get better, blessings!

Now I'm getting scared of motherhood, it isn't easy when the children fall sick simultaneously. "How did you even cope with it?" Mothers are the real superheroes.

That's motherly love o. Wanting the sickness to come on you rather than your child but it is a phase of life like you mentioned.

I pray for their speedy recovery and I want you to take enough rest as well. It is not easy caring for three sick kids.

May the strengthen you o and give you more grace in motherhood 🙏

Parenting can be stressful, and people who don't have kids won't understand lol. I'm glad they're getting better. I see that the second one was on oxygen?
