STREET ART AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE

Thanks to this prompt for today I will be able to showcase the street art I found out recently at the cathedral, I am a fan of art especially one that appeals to the soul, one that lets you stop and ponder on the beauty and meaning. Artists that carry out these paintings are really doing well because it's not an easy task. Catholic churches are known to engage in art to portray the various doctrines and apostles of the church on their walls. One of such art common in such churches are the Mosaics, the arts in this category is Often seen as depicting biblical scenes and saints that had to with the church in its early stages and times. These colorful artworks are a combination of different materials and it can range from small pieces of glass or stone.

Catholic art is one that is famous for its key elements which is symbolism it is obvious that most of the works of art that we see in Catholic churches are a reflection of the images of the life and time of the early church. In view of what is being said we tend to see images such as the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Apostles of Jesus, the crucifixion, rosary, Saints, water and so on. These are symbolic to the doctrine and the faith of the Catholic Church.

It is important to Note that, Catholic art are not one that is created just for the fun of it but has kept its relevance and remained a means to express spirituality. In some way just as picture are means to help us recollect and be endeared to a captured moment that is important in our lives, catholic art is a reflection of the Church's mission to not forget that we have a doctrine that guides us.

These pictures can make one ponder on the life and times of Jesus christ, ranging from his birth, baptism, crucifixion, ascention to heaven and so on. They can even act as a means of evangelism in a religious country like Nigeria.

Street arts are means by which an artist showcases his talent in various ways and for different reason. One time I saw an art that was nicely done but was used as a means to criticize the government on the need to take action and tend to the needs of the people. These visual arts on street do not necessarily require permission except if it's a private property.

This is a part of my entry for the #octoberinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit.
