Milagros de domingo: la magia de un mensaje [Esp/Eng]

Ha llegado el día más feliz de la semana. Ese día en que puedo hacerlos mis cómplices en este afán de buscar los milagros cotidianos que nos llegan como un regalo y que nos iluminan la vida.

Ya con casi un mes de andar en esta búsqueda constante de esos pequeños detalles, he llegado al convencimiento de que los milagros no suelen llegar con trompetas celestiales ni vestidos de grandiosos acontecimientos. Los milagros reales se cuelan por las rendijas de lo cotidiano, en instantes de pleno ajetreo, y tal pareciera que no quieren alterar el orden del mundo, pero sí son capaces de transformar por completo el nuestro.

Hoy he escogido el día para hablar de un milagro moderno, y a la vez uno de los más profundos que he experimentado: los mensajes inesperados que llegan a través de las redes sociales y que, como un rayo de sol, se filtran entre las nubes que opacan el azul del cielo y nos iluminan de una manera sutil.

Sé que las redes sociales pueden tener mala fama, y que a veces puede ser agobiante desplazarnos por un río interminable de contenidos perfectos, vidas editadas y sonrisas para nada reales, pero a pesar de eso, puede suceder el milagro.

Imaginen lo que es que te envíe un mensaje de voz una amiga, solo para contarte que limpiando la casa encontró un viejo diario donde había anotado una conversación que tuvimos cuando apenas teníamos 15 años. Lo escuché una, dos, tres veces, y una lágrima rodó por mi mejilla, pero no era de tristeza, era de agradecimiento. En ese instante, los caprichosos e impersonales algoritmos de una red social se habían convertido en el vehículo de un mensaje profundamente humano. Eso fue un milagro.

Pero eso no es un caso aislado. Pienso ahora en tantos mensajes que llegan solo para decir: "pensé en ti hoy al ver este atardecer" o un simple "escuché una canción y supe que te gustaría". Esos parecen ser bolas de papel lanzadas a ese gran océano digital que nos alcanzan en el momento exacto. ¿Alguien me puede negar que son milagrosos?

El primer milagro es que son gratuitos. No los pedimos, no hay detrás de ellos una transacción, son regalos que solo demuestran que estás en el pensamiento de alguien, y eso, en un mundo donde todo parece tener un precio o una expectativa, ese gesto inesperado y desinteresado puede devolvernos la fe.

El segundo milagro es que llegan a la hora justa, cuando más lo necesitamos, y tal pareciera como si el universo, a través de un amigo, nos dijera que no estamos solos. Ese mensaje del pasado o ese cumplido puede lograr que se reconecten los cables de nuestra identidad que con los trajines diarios se sueltan.

Por todo lo anterior, hoy les propongo este reto a todos:

Sunday Miracles: A Message's Magic

The happiest day of the week has arrived. That day when I can make you my accomplices in this endeavor to seek the everyday miracles that come to us like a gift and illuminate our lives.

After almost a month of being on this constant search for those small details, I have become convinced that miracles do not usually arrive with celestial trumpets or dressed as grand events. Real miracles slip through the cracks of the everyday, in moments full of hustle and bustle, and it seems they don't want to alter the world's order, but they are capable of completely transforming our own.

Today, I have chosen the day to talk about a modern miracle, and at the same time one of the most profound I have experienced: the unexpected messages that arrive through social media and which, like a ray of sunshine, filter through the clouds that dim the blue sky and illuminate us in a subtle way.

I know that social media can have a bad reputation, and that sometimes it can be overwhelming to navigate through an endless river of perfect content, edited lives, and completely unreal smiles, but despite that, a miracle can happen.

Imagine a friend sending you a voice message, just to tell you that while cleaning the house she found an old journal where she had written down a conversation we had when we were just 15 years old. I listened to it once, twice, three times, and a tear rolled down my cheek, but it wasn't from sadness, it was from gratitude. In that instant, the capricious and impersonal algorithms of a social network had become the vehicle for a profoundly human message. That was a miracle.

But that is not an isolated case. I now think of so many messages that arrive just to say: "I thought of you today when I saw this sunset" or a simple "I heard a song and knew you would like it." These seem like paper balls thrown into that great digital ocean that reach us at the exact moment. Can anyone deny that they are miraculous?

The first miracle is that they are free. We don't ask for them, there is no transaction behind them; they are gifts that simply show that you are in someone's thoughts, and that, in a world where everything seems to have a price or an expectation, that unexpected and selfless gesture can restore our faith.

The second miracle is that they arrive at the right time, when we need them most, and it seems as if the universe, through a friend, is telling us that we are not alone. That message from the past or that compliment can manage to reconnect the wires of our identity that come loose with the daily grind.

Always remember that you can be the messenger of a miracle for someone, and in that case, the miracle will not be in receiving it, but in having the courage to send it. In those screens that trap us every day, a little piece of our happiness can also be hidden.
